HELD ON MARCH 18,2008
Chairman Shapiro called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. in the Charles J.Zettek Building,
901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village and noted for the record that the following were
present: Chairman Alan J. Shapiro,DDS and Commissioner Michael P.Kontek.
It was moved by Commissioner Kontek and seconded by Chairman Shapiro that the minutes
of February 12, 2008 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the
reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro
declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
1. Police Consultants, Inc., Invoice 4954 dated March 13, 2008 in the amount of
$515.00 for psychological evaluation of firefighter candidate.
2. Theodore Polygraph Service, Invoice 16364 dated February 14,2008 in the
amount of$125.00 for polygraph examination of one police officer candidate.
3. Theodore Polygraph Service,Invoice 16363 dated February 7,2008 in the amount
of$500.00 for polygraph examinations for four firefighter candidates.
4. The BlueLine,Invoice 4897 dated February 29,2008 in the amount of$397.00 for
internet police officer recruitment listing.
5. Alexian Brothers Corporate Health Services, Invoice 266475 dated February 15,
2008 in the amount of$749.00 for medical evaluation for police candidate.
It was moved by Chairman Shapiro and seconded by Commissioner Kontek that the Board
authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation
whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried.
CORRESPONDENCE
1. Letter from former police officer requesting a retired commission card.
2. Request from former Fire Lieutenant requesting a new computerized retirement
commission card.
3. Appointment letter to Police Officer Bryan Lyp; hire date March 24, 2008.
4. Email to John Kelly regarding HB4417 and his response.
OLD BUSINESS
1. Discussed firefighter hiring process and timeline.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Discussed police officer testing process and timeline.
PENDING
1) Police Officer Hiring Process—no vacancy. Four names remain on the current
eligibility list scheduled to expire on March 30, 2009.
2) Firefighter Hiring Process—seven vacancies; authorization to replace two at this
time. Sixty-six names remain on the current eligibility list scheduled to expire on
January 18,2010.
3) CPAT-Discuss at a future meeting.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Chairman Shapiro and seconded Commissioner Kontek that the meeting be
adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro
declared the motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
