HomeMy WebLinkAboutVILLAGE BOARD - 06/10/1957 - VILLAGE BOARD MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF �_; THE VILLAGE OF = GROVE VILLAGE, ILLINOIS, HELD ON JUNE 10, 1957• President Charles A. Hodlmair *called the meeting to order at 9:20 P.M. at the residence of the President in said Village, pursuant to a motion made and carried at the meeting held September 24, 1956, and directed the Village Clerk to call the roll. Upon the roll being called the following Trustees answered "PRESENT": Morgan P. Burke, Jr., James L. Carroll, Laurence F. Grindel, Roger J. Patzer and Leonard A. Scharringhausen; "ABSENT": Frank R. Angelotti. Also present at this meeting: George F. Scharringhausen, Jr., Village Treasurer; William N. Glab, Police Magistrate; Edward J. McCabe of DeSoto B. McCabe & Associates, Engineer for the Village; Frank M. Opeka, Attorney for the Village; and Frank Crossen of Centex Construction Company, Inc. It was moved by Trustee Grindel and seconded by Trustee Scharringhausen that the minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Board of Trustees held on May 27, 1957, as submitted, be approved. The motion was voted upon by acclamation. Whereupon the President declared the motion carried and the minutes approved. George F. Scharringhausen, Jr., Village Treasurer, read his report. It was moved by Trustee Grindel and seconded by Trustee Carroll that Ordinance No. 17 "AN ORDINANCE amending Rule 31 (e) of Section 1, Article II of Ordinance No. 1." be adopted. Upon the call of the roll on the adoption of said ordinance, the following Trustees voted "AYE": Burke, Jr., Carroll, Grindel, Patzer and Scharringhausen; "NAY": None. Whereupon the President declared the motion carried and the ordinance passed and approved same in open meeting by affixing his signature thereto. It was moved by Trustee Scharringhausen and seconded by Trustee Patzer that Ordinance No. 18 cPAN ORDINANCE relating to public offenses and providing penalties therefore." be adopted. Upon the call of the roll on the adoption of said ordinance, the following Trustees voted "AYE": Burke, Jr., Carroll, Grindel, Patzer and Scharringhausen; "NAY": None. Whereupon the President declared the ' motion carried and the ordinance passed and approved same in open meeting by affixing his signature thereto. It was moved by Trustee Patzer and seconded by Trustee Grindel that publication of Ordinance No. 19 by posting at three (j) public places in the Village and certification of posting bk�­person posting the ordinance be submitted to the Village Clerk. The motion was voted upon by acclamation. Whereupon the President declared the motion carried. It was moved by Trustee Burke, Jr., and seconded by Trustee Scharringhausen that Ordinance No. 19 "AN ORDINANCE pertaining to the regulation of traffic in the streets and highways of the Village of Elk Grove Village." be adopted. Upon the call of the roll on the adoption of said ordinance, the follow- '~! ing Trustees voted "AYE": Burke, Jr., Carroll, Grindel, Patzer and Scharringhausen; "NAY": None. Whereupon the President declared the motion carried and the Ordinance j passed and approved same in open meeting by affixing his signature thereto. It was moved by Trustee Burke, Jr., and seconded by Trustee Grindel that publication of Ordinance No. 19 by posting at three (j) public places in the Village and certification of posting by person posting the 'ordinance be submitted to the Village Clerk. The motion was bbted upon by acclamation. Whereupon the President declared the motion carried. Following a discussion relative to speed control taithin the Village, President Hodlmair referred the matter of speed control and traffic signs within the { Village to the Chairman of the Streets and Sewers Committee, Laurence F. Grindel. Before this meeting was called to order, Trustee Leonard A. Scharringhausen, Chairman of the Special Committee to make a formal report on the Scavenger Situation, introduced Mr. J. Stob of Monarch Disposal Company to the President and Board of Trustees. Mr. Stob discussed and answered questions relative to scavenger service for the Village. Also before the regular meeting Mr. James gatchis of Bell and Gustus, Inc., (Traffic Safety Suppliers) was introduced to the President and Board of Trustees by Trustee Morgan P. Burke, Jr. Mr. Ratchis will send literature to the Village. It was moved by Trustee Grindel and seconded by Trustee Burke, Jr., that this meeting adjourn. The motion was voted upon by acclamation.
