PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE, ILLINOIS,
HELD ON JUNE 13 1960
President Charles A. Hodlmair called the meeting to order at 8:15 at the
Ridge School in said Village and directed the Acting Village Clerk to
call the roll:
Upon the roll being called the following Trustees answered "PRESENT:"
James L. Carroll, Francis J. Dillon, Robert E. Hartshorn, Leonard A.
Scharringhausen, Charles P. Smith, James R. Young; "ABSENT:" None.
Also present at this meeting: Edward C. Hofert, Attorney for the Village;
Jack Michala, Chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals; and residents of
Elk Grove Village.
It was moved by Trustee Young and seconded by Trustee Schar-
ringhausen that the Board approve the engineering plans for Section_Z t
and the Metropolitan Sanitary ;istrict Permit.on the Greenleaf Avenge
Ektdhbion in Centex Industrial Park, in concurrence with the written ;
recommendation of the Village Engineer, Edward Fletcher,; subject to a
determination of the inspection fee referred to therein - in compliance
with Ordinance No. 118. The' President asked that the roll be called on the
motion and upon the roll being called the following Trustees voted "AYE:"
Carroll, Dillon, Hartshorn, Scharringhausen, Smith, Young; "NAY:" None.
Whereupon the President declared the motion carried.
Trustee Smith reported that a nwnber of residents living in the vicinity
of the North Park have invested pri:,ate funds to purchase trees for the
Park.
President Hodlmair reported that following a near-accident at the inter-
section of Elmhurst-Touhy, he has written a letter to the Chicago Motor
Club calling attention to the existing traffic conditions.
The Acting Village Clerk reported receipt of Approval No. 317-1960
granted to the Elk Grove Water & Sewer Co., Inc. from he State of Illinois

to the Village Engineer.
The Acting Village Clerk reported receipt of notice of Motor Fuel Tax
Allotment from the State Division of Highways for the month of Aprils 1960,
in the amount of $1,319.36.
The Acting Village Clerk reported re-leipt of approval, from the State
Division of Highways, of Elk Grove " illa�e Reso u to o. , ou Hing
an arterial street system for the Village.
The Acting Village Clerk pr^,sented for first reading a proposed ordinance

Mr. Hofert reported having secured a copy of the Downers Grove Subdivision
Control OrG'i nar_ce, and c F fered to s�,�pply each of the Trustees, o
Roar3 oT-_AppeaM. the Plan Commission, and the School Board with copies
thereof for their study and reference in working on the Elk Grove Village
Subdivision Control Ordinance.
Mr. Jack Michala reported that, as Chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals
of the Village of Elk Grove Village, he accompanied representatives of
Centex and Bennett & Kahnweiler to Raleigh, Nor:._Z Carolina, to attend the
recent conference of the Urban Land Institute. The purpose of this trip
was mainly in connection wee proposea_T nne and Holzhauser property
rezonings. Mr. Michala then gave a report of the conference and a report
of the background surrounding the proposed rezonings.
It was moved by Trustee Sri th and seconded by Trustee Young
that all interested parties in the public group attending this Board
Meeting be given an opportunity to be heard in connection with the re-
zoning of the Tonne and Holzhauser ;parcels of land. The motion was—V55-ted
upon by acclamation. Whereupon the President declared the motion carried.

Following this, there ensued a general discussion in which members of
the Board; along with Messrs: Evan Stebbins, John Bolgerp Howard Krafsurj
Spencer Cone, Jack Michalap and various residents of the Village were
involved, This discussion covered the background of .the original
Zoning Board of Appeals hearings., the recent Urban Land Institute con-
ference; and the history of the •rezonings before the Board of Trustees.
It was moved by Trustee Hartshorn and seconded by Trustee Young
that the Board concur in the recommendation of the Zoning Board of Appeals
in the rezoning of the Tonne and Holzhauser properties and that the attor-
ney be instructed to draw up'an ordinance rezoning these properties in
accord with said recommendation. The President asked that the roll be
called on the motion and upon the roll being called the following Trustees
voted "AYE:" Hartshorn, Scharringhausen, Smith, Youngi "NAY:" Carroll,
Dillon. whereupon the President declared the motion carried.
It was moved by Trustee Young and seconded by Trustee Smith
that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation.
Whereupon the President declared the motion carried and the meeting was
adjourned at 10:08 p.m.
