OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
HELD ON DECEMBER 20,2016
Chairman E. Butch Ehrke called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek
Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and noted for the record that the
following members were present: Chairman E. Butch Ehrke, Secretary Michael Kontek and
Commissioner Stephen Scholten. Guests and staff present: Police Chief Charles Walsh, Fire
Chief Richard Mikel, Attorney John Kelly, Michelle Jin, and Lauren Linares.
Chairman E. Butch Ehrke moved that the minutes of the November 15, 2016 meeting be
approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. Commissioner
Scholten seconded the motion. It was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Secretary
Michael Kontek declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
None.
CORRESPONDENCE
1. Promotion of Commander Nicholas Olsen to Police Deputy Chief.
2. Promotion of Sergeant Dan Burke to Commander in the Field Services Division.
3. Promotion of Officer Chris Torres to Sergeant in the Field Services Division.
4. Declination of appointment of Austin Hurley (PC60) as Police Officer.
5. Police Officer Suspensions.
OLD BUSINESS
1. Discuss Police Testing day best practices and opportunities.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Visit with Chief Walsh and Chief Mikel.
2. Visit with legal counsel, John Kelly.
3. Final Review Ofc. Eric Guzik
4. Discuss preliminary eligibility list. Signatures.
5. Discuss Police oral group interviews and submittal of preference point claim forms.
ELIGIBILITY LIST
1. Firefighter—Eligibility list containing 109 names will expire on 09/14/2017.
2. Fire Lieutenant—Nine names appear on the eligibility list scheduled to expire on
11/09/2017.

3. Police Officer—The amended list dated 6/21/2016 has five names remaining and is
scheduled to expire on 12/27/2016.
4. Police Sergeant—After Officer Torres' promotion, three names remain on the list
scheduled to expire on 07/07/2018.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Chairman Ehrke and seconded Commissioner Scholten that the meeting be
adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Ehrke declared
the motion carried. Meeting adjourned 6:00 p.m.
