MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS G
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
HELD ON NOVEMBER 18, 2008 !
Chairman Shapiro called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek
Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, Illinois, and noted for the record that
all Commission members were present: Chairman Alan J. Shapiro, DDS, Secretary E.
Butch Ehrke, and Commissioner Michael P. Kontek.
It was moved by Commissioner Kontek and seconded by Commissioner Ehrke that the
minutes of October 21, 2008 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board
dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon
Chairman Shapiro declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
1. None
CORRESPONDENCE
1. Notice of Resignation from F/F Belinda Guglielmo effective October 29, 2008.
2. Written Reprimand to Police Officer for violating Rules and Regulations of the
Elk Grove Village Police Department, Section 26.1.1A, Rule 46 (Failure to
Operate a Village Vehicle in a Safe Manner).
3. Memo to Chief Schmidt requesting comments/constructive criticism on the
performance of Probationary Officer Bryan Lyp hired on March 24, 2008. Ofc.
Lyp's probationary review is scheduled for December 16, 2008.
4. Seven individual memos to Chief Miller requesting comments/constructive
criticism on the performance of probationary firefighters (Liska, Petersen,
Domin, Seegers, Melendy, Ritchie, Evert) hired on June 23, 2008.
Probationary reviews are scheduled for December 16, 2008.
OLD BUSINESS
1. None
NEW BUSINESS
1. Scheduled group interview dates for Sergeant Promotional Process.

PENDING
1) Police Officer—no vacancies. Twenty-seven names remain on the current
eligibility list scheduled to expire on August 1, 2010.
2) Firefighter—no vacancies. Thirty-seven names remain on the current eligibility
list scheduled to expire on January 18, 2010.
3) Police Sergeant Eligibility List—Eligibility list expired. Testing process to
commence November 18, 2008.
4) Fire Lieutenant List—Two names remain on the current eligibility list
scheduled to expire on June 24, 2009.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded Commissioner Kontek that the
meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman
Shapiro declared the motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 7:05 p.m.
