OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE r

Chairman Shapiro called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Building,
901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village and noted for the record that the following were
present: Chairman Alan J. Shapiro, DDS, and Secretary E. Butch Ehrke, and Commissioner
Michael P. Kontek.
It was moved by Commissioner Kontek and seconded by Commissioner Ehrke that the
minutes of November 18, 2008 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense
with the reading thereof The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman
Shapiro declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
1. Daily Herald, Invoice T4120828 dated 11/16/2008 in the amount of$31.05 for
publication of legal announcement of Sergeant Written Examination.
2. Police Consultants, Inc., Invoice 5172 dated 11/20/2008 in the amount of
$5,320.00 administering the Sergeant Written Examination (30 participants).
3. Illinois Fire & Police Commissioners Association, Invoice dated 10/01/2008 in the
amount of$375.00 for 2009 Membership Fee.
It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded by Commissioner Kontek that the Board
authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation
whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried.
CORRESPONDENCE
1. Memo from Chief Schmidt regarding comments on the performance of
Probationary Officer Bryan Lyp.
2. Memos from various Fire Lieutenants regarding the six-month performance of
seven probationary firefighters hired on June 23, 2008.

NEW BUSINESS
1. Scheduled dates for Police Sergeant Candidate Individual Oral Interviews.

ELIGIBILITY LIST/HIRING STATUS
1 Police Officer—no vacancies. Twenty-seven names remain on the current
eligibility list scheduled to expire on August 1, 2010.
2 Firefighter—no vacancies. Thirty-six names remain on the current eligibility list
scheduled to expire on January 18, 2010.
3 Police Sergeant Eligibility List—Eligibility list expired. Multiple Group
Interviews to be conducted tonight.
4 Fire Lieutenant List—Two names remain on the current eligibility list scheduled to
expire on June 24, 2009.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded Commissioner Kontek that the meeting
be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro
declared the motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 6:10 p.m.
