HomeMy WebLinkAboutBOARD OF HEALTH - 09/01/1987 - BOARD OF HEALTH Minutes Village of Elk Grove Board of Health Meeting September 1, 1987 The regular meeting of the Elk Grove Village Board of Health was called to order by Pat McHale at 7:40 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Courtroom at the Village Hall. Board Members Present Board Members Absent Pat McHale, Chairman Ray Dean Pat Bourke Jim Rubly Ray DePalma Dave Dopp Staff Members Present Dr. Kelly Nancy Yiannias Dr. Labinsky Mike Cavallini The minutes .of the July 7, 1987, meeting were approved. Pat Bourke asked if the letter regarding Carroll Square was sent to Mr. Zettek. The letter will be drafted by Pat McHale this month. . The Police Department responded to the Board of Health's letter on the crosswalk at Arlington Heights Road and Higgins Road. The letter was lost in the flood. A copy will be requested from the Police Department. I Old Business A. Adult Day Care Proposed Ordinance The Northwest Municipal Conference appointed a committee to investigate and prepare a model ordinance for Adult Day Care Centers. The Committee has met once in August and will be meeting again on September 15, 1987. B. Low Cost Health Care 'Task Force The "Low Cost Health Care" staff has been working on planning delivery systems. . The system(s) will be reviewed by the Board and their constituent's before a decision is made. It is anticipated that the Northwest Task Force area will be one of the models. C. Proposed Tanning Booth Ordinance The FDA Radiological Health Division Director said that a National Committee of Radiation Control Directors is working on a model ordinance. The Board of Health felt we should wait for their final draft for our review. D. Proposed Rental Housing Ordinance The file was lost in the flood and copies are being sent by Schaumburg Health Department. It will be reviewed at the October meeting. Board of Health Minutes - page 2 September 1, 1987 E. Senior Impact Study Pat McHale and Nancy Yiannias will meet with the Director of the Low Cost Health Care Office to discuss the impact study. They should be meeting the week of September 7, 1987. II Routine Reports A. Coordinator's Report The flood at the Village Hall destroyed all equipment in the Health Department. Most records were also destroyed, however, some were on computer so the loss could have been worse. We are currently housed in the. "old" Village Hall but will probably be placed in trailers in the parking lot area. Because of flooding at Alexian Brothers Medical Center, the August 18, 1987, clinic was postponed to August 25, 1987. Twenty-eight (28) children were given 47 shots. The next clinic will be held on September 15, 1987. The Senior Congregate Housing Ordinance was passed by the Village Board in July. _ The Flu Clinic Schedule for this fall is attached. No Housing/Health Inspector's report is attached because records were lost in the flood. B. Sanitarian's Report Several new restaurants and day care centers have opened or are in the process of opening. Pizza Hut, Ascot Meats and LaPetite Academy opened in August. Due for September openings are TCBY (Yogurt) , KinderCare and Peppino's. Water samples have been taken at the twelve (12) private wells still being used in the Village. They were not scheduled for for sampling, but due to the flooding, we felt they should be taken.
