HomeMy WebLinkAboutBOARD OF HEALTH - 05/05/1987 - BOARD OF HEALTH Minutes Village of Elk Grove Board of Health May 5, 1987 The regular meeting of the Elk Grove Village Board of Health was called to order by Pat McHale, Chairman, at 7:30 p.m. in the Staff .Conference Room of the Village Hall. Board Members Present Board Members Absent Pat McHale, Chairman Pat Bourke Ray Dean Dave Dopp Ray DePalma Jim Rubly Dr. Kelly Dr. Labinsky Staff Member Present Nancy Yiannias Staff Member Absent Mike Cavallini The minutes of the April 7, 1987, meeting were approved. I Old Business A. Low Cost Health Care Update The Task Force for Low Cost Primary Health hired Rich Sewell as executive director. Mr. Sewell was formerly the director of the Cook County Health Systems Agency and is very knowledgeable about suburban Cook County. His charge is to work on a plan between now and October and implementation after that. The Chicago Community Trust has awarded $100,000 to the consortium to work on the planning phase of the project. B. Congregate Senior Housing J.P.Z. will be meeting on the proposed Congregate Senior Housing ordinance in June. The specific date will probably be selected at the next Village Board meeting. C. Task_ Force - Senior Impact Study Work on this project will begin in July. D. Proposed Tanning Booth Ordinance No Report E. Proposed Adult Day Care Ordinance The Board of Health will review the ordinance at the June Meeting. II Routine Reports A. Coordinator's Report 85 people donated blood at the April 25th Drive. The next drive will be held in the new Village Hall addition. Minutes - Boar. of Health May 5, 1987 - page 2 The next immunization clinic will be held on Thursday, May 14th at Alexian Brothers Medical Center from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Mr. Willis has requested that the Board of Health write a letter of support for the NWMC Balefill located in the Northwest Cook County area near Barlett. The Board of Health will respond to Mr. Willis on this issue. Community Development Block Grants Several Northwest Communities have acquired block grants for residential rehab for low and moderate income families. According to Cook County guidelines, Elk Grove Village did not qualify for these funds. Other. communities .that received grants have similar demographics and Cook County approved their requests. It is too late to apply this year, but we will apply in 1988. B. New Summer Inspector Steve Curatti has been hired as a summer health inspector. He is a student at Northern Illinois University majoring in Community Health and a resident of Elk Grove Village. C. Rental Ordinance J.P.Z. would like to look into a rental housing ordinance. Area ordinances will be reviewed and information will be passed on to J.P.Z. Minutes - Boara of Health May 5, 1987 - page 4 i Ray Dean was recently at Brown's Chicken! and found that employees were not wearing hats. Mike Cavallini will check into this matter.
