I Old Business A. Low Cost Health Care Update The Task Force met to discuss the possiblitiy of obtaining a grant from the Chicago Community Trust to study the extent of the need for low cost medical care in the northwest suburbs. A committee of the Task Force is writing a letter of intent which must be submitted by September 18, 1986. Four sub- committees will be studying the various phases of the problem. The Taskforce will be enlarged to include seven townships for input into the group's activities. The monies available through the Chicago Community Trust is "tailor made" for this project .and it was extremely lucky that it was available at this time. B. Proposed Congregate Senior Housing Ordinance Update The proposed ordinance is in the hands of the Village Attorney. When it is reviewed and put into legal form, the proposed ordinance will go back to the Trustees for final review and approval. The -Dominic.n Group may- decide not to proceed- with their building plans. Their decision should be made shortly. C. Taskforce for Community Impact Study of Senior Citizen Population Update This project has been placed on hold temporarily. D. Proposed Tanning Booth Ordinance Update Mr. Willis responded to the Board of Health memo regarding artificial tanning facilities. His memo stated his original .position, opposing the proposed ordinance. Pat Bourke expressed concern about the matter. She spoke with Dr. Michael Greenberg, Board of Health Minutes September 2, 1986 - page 2 a local dermatologist. He is opposed to tanning parlours because of the health problems caused from their light rays. .Pat Bourke moved- that the Board of Health write a letter to Dr.. Greenberg asking for his opinion on the specific health hazards incurred from the use of Tanning Booths. A copy of Mr. Willis' letter will be attached. The motion- was seconded by Ray Dean and passed unanimously. The American Cancer Society will also be asked to send information on Tanning Booths related to health hazards they cause. II Routine 'Reports A. Coordinator's Report - 98 Shots were given to 57 children at the August 7, 1986, Immunization Clinic. The next clinic is set for October 9, 1986. - Flu clinics are set to begin on September 24, 1986, and run t1zrough November 13, 1986. Three clinics- will be held in Elk Grove Village: October 15, October 23 and November 4. The Northwest Municipal Conference. Health Officer's Committee on Radon met to investigate the Radon problem in -homes. They will be coming forth with recommendations for local Health Department programs in the near future. In Home Day Care License Revisions - Some DCFS licensing revisions may make it necessary for us to rewrite portions of our licensing ordinance.
