A. Survey Questionnaire
The Plan Committee met before the regular meeting to
discuss possible programs derived from the information
in the questionnaire results. The following programs
were suggested:
1) 30% of respondents felt they would participate in a
glaucome, vision and hearing screening. The committee
felt this should be incorporated into future programming.
2) Drugs and alcohol are still a very high priority.
This should definitely be incorporated in future
Programming.
3) Medical drug mixing is a .problem - The committee felt
that information about this could be handled through
the poison control system.
B. Senior Search Update
Figures on current health impaired elderly will be made
available by the Elk Grove Schaumburg Mental Health Center.
The Health Department is working on a health packet for
seniors, as well as an emergency phone number sticker.
This packet will include a letter asking for names of health
impaired elderly.

C. "Old School House"
Mr. Fulk has been properly maintaining the Old School
House property. He has made no progress in trying to
convert the property to a real estate office. He is
scheduled to appear before the Housing Code Appeals
Board in August.
D. Alternative Educational Programs
The Health Department's student intern is doing a literature
search for behavior modification programs.
The Board felt the Health Department should look into
Cable TV programming.
II Routine Reports
A. Coordinator's Report
- The Health Department has a Health Education Intern from
the U of I for eight weeks. ' She will be working on
several projects during the summer.
- The new Housing/Health Inspector, Mike Wolter, began work-
ing on May 29th. He comes highly recommended and -is
academically well qualified. He should be a real asset
to the Department.
- The final "Health Talk" will be held on June 16th. It is
the annual "Baby Sitting Clinic" and is usually very well
received.
- The May 24th inm inization clinic was very well attended.
128 shots were given to over sixty children. The next
clinic will be held on August 23rd.
- John Egan Plant - The Research 6 Development Director of
14SD sent a report on sludge testing done by MSD. Results
are being sent to Illinois EPA for their opinion of the
the results.
The Board would also like to know the cadmium content of
the sludge.

B. Sanitarian's Report
Mike Cavallini gave a brief report on the Solid Waste
Task Force, which he has been involved with for several
months. The Task Force recommends that a landfill be
placed on Forest Preserve Property in Hoffman Estates
and a transfer station in West Glencoe. The landfill
seems to be acceptable to Hoffman Estates and should
have no impact on residential areas of that Village.. The
transfer station is near residences in Northfield so that
Village is objecting to its present, proposed placement.
The Task Force's recommendation will be presented to the
Mayors and Managers on June 13th and public hearings will
we held in August-.
