Board of Health
April 25, 1979
The rescheduled meeting of the Elk Grove Village Board of Health was called
to order at 8:10 p.m. in Room 105 of the Village Hall.

I. Old Business -
A. Retail Sanitation Ordinance - The status of this ordinance has
not changed. The JPZ Committee membership will change since
Ed Kenna, its previous chairman, is no longer a Trustee. We
will ask that committee to review the ordinance as soon as the
new chairman and members have been appointed.
B. Evaluation Forms - The form to be used for evaluation- of the
Health Coordinator will be brought to the May meeting. A period
of six months (two evaluations) will be used as "practice" forms.
October lst, official evaluations will be made before salaries
are considered for May 1, 1980.
C. Budget - The 1979-80 budget was approved with no alterations
by the Village Board. The budget totaled $65,817 - 1978-79
budget was $62,233.
D. Elk Grove Cinema - Owners of the Cinema have been keeping the
theatre in good condition. They have been checked twice since
the hearing. They will be checked on a monthly basis to ensure
that conditions do not deteriorate.
E. Community Development Funds - A meeting with the Village Board
to discuss making application for Community Development funds
for Housing Maintenance was set for May 22nd at 7:30 p.m.
Pat McHale appointed Sue Stidger, Ray Depalma and Ray Dean to
a committee to plan the presentation for that meeting. The
committee will meet on May 9th at 8 p.m.
II. Routine Reports
A. Coordinator's Report
The 2nd quarterly Blood Drive will be held on Saturday,
April 28th, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Immunization. Clinic will be, held on Saturday, May 19th from
10 a.m. 12 noon at the Elk Grove High School.
The promotional materials for Medic Alert and Hemoccult Screening
were mailed April 18th.
.The final Health'Talk at Alexian Brothers Medical Center will 'be
held in June on Eye Care. After a summer recess, the series will
begin again In September.
Senior health sessions will continue over the summer.
A summer inspector will be hired. Several outstanding persons
have applied for the position. The selection will be made the .week.
.of April 30th.
Water Lab Reports were attached and gave reports. on seven wells
and six distribution points. A new Director of Public Works has been
hired. Future questions about the Water Department will be directed
to him.
Mr. Kracower is presently preparing promotional materials and forms
for inspections. A community-wide meeting will be held at the time
mass communications will be mailed. Neighborhood meetings will be
held in the 24 sections before those neighborhoods are inspected.
The Board decided that initially only-the exterior of houses should
be inspected. It would be impossible to do both inside and outside
with the manpower presently available in the Health Department.
B. Sanitarian's Report
Inspections made between March 23 and April 24, 1979:

Housing Maintenance 3
Sanitary requirements for mobile food vending vehicles have been
changed to include mandatory refrigeration on each vehicle by June,
1980. The attached sheet also gives other regulations for mobile
vending trucks and are given to all operators licensed by the Village.

E. Ways and Means Committee Report - none

III. New Business
Suggestions from the Board of Health for the Health Education Series
were requested. The Board felt that topics promoting wellness should
be stressed — such as nutrition, exercise, etc.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:50 p.m.
