HomeMy WebLinkAboutBOARD OF HEALTH - 03/12/1975 - BOARD OF HEALTH ELK GROVE VILLAGE BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING March 12, 1975 The regular meeting of the Board of Health of Elk Grove Village was held on Wednesday, March 12, 1975, in the Village Hall and called to order at 8:00 P.M. PRESENT: ABSENT: .Donna Farley, Chairman Dr. Harold Labinsky Alan Antonik Dr. Tom McNamara Patricia Bourke Charles Brock STAFF: Patricia McHale Suzanne Stidger Nancy Yiannias , Health Coordinator Barbara Watson, Village Sanitarian OLD BUSINESS-: Questionnaire: The questionnaire for the family interview survey is being revised and edited and should be complete for the pretest by the end of March. Volunteer interviewers will be solicited j from community organizations and approached at their April meetings . As soon as a final draft of the questionnaire is available, it will be circulated to the Board of Health. April Meeting: Because of unforeseen conflicts, the April meeting will not be held on the regularly scheduled date of April 9th ar agree ing ate to Wednesday, April 16, 1975 at 8:00 P.M. in the Multi-Purpose Room. Budget : The tentative proposed budget for Health Services - 1975-76 - as recommended by the Village Manager, was presented. Budget cuts were discussed. It was suggested that the Planning Committee also function as a finance committee prior to next year's budget request. Donna Farley will write a letter to the Budget Committee of the Board of Trustees expressing the Board of Health 's support for the 1975-76 budget. Also included in the letter will be the Board's rationale for th-e requests made in the budget. Animal Ordinance: The final copy of the proposed animal ordinance was reviewed by the Board of Health. Charlie Brock moved that the proposed ordinance- (Chapter 17, Articles I , -I1 , 111 ) be presented to the Village Manager and ultimately the Board of Trustees for adoption. The motion was approved unanimously. A rationale will be written and attached to the ordinance explaining changes that have been made. II NUISANCE ORDINANCE: Nuisance ordinances from three Northwest Suburban Municipalities were reviewed by the Board. The Board's comments ,- preferences and suggestions were noted and will be included in the first draft of the ordinance by the ordinance committee. The first draft will be presented at the April meeting. Board of Health fleeting March 12, 1975 Page 2 III COORDINATOR'S REPORT: Progress Blood Program: A mass mailing will be sent out promoting the April 12th blood drive. Projects : Personal Interview Survey (reported in old business) . Agency Referral Leaflet - The Jaycees quoted $150 per page for printing the agency referral list in their directory. Community Service will absorb i/2 the test. The Board moved that $310 be approved for the cost of printing the Jaycees ' Directory. It was unanimously approved. Copies of the referral list will be distributed at the April meeting. Emergency Health Disaster Plan - The Coordinator will be working with Chief Hulett Elk Grove Fire Department) to incorporate an Emergency Health Disaster Plan in. the Civil Defense Manual . This portion was never included in the Manual . He also has at his disposal a publica- tion citing extensive accounts on health disasters . Blood Pressure Screening - A blood pressure screening session will be done for the Elk Grove Park District Senior Citizens Club in the spring. IV NEW BUSINESS: According to Pat Bourke, a new bill , classifying public drunkenness as a .disease rather than a criminal. offense , will be brought before the Illinois State Legislature in- the near future. She asked that the Health Board and Health Department support it when appropriate. She also suggested that a plan on how to handle. alcoholics. in the community be. devised. The meeting adjourned at 10:20 P.M.
