ELK GROVE VILLAGE BOARD OF HEALTH
MINUTES
April 10, '1974
The meeting of the Elk Grove Village Board of Health was
called to order by the interim Chairman, Alan Antonik at 4:00 P.M.
on April '10, 1974 in the Elk Grove Village Municipal Building Staff
Conference Room.
Members Present: Alan Antonik Charles Brock
Patricia Bourke Patricia McHale
Others Present: Charles Zettek, Village President
Barbara Watson, Village- Sanitarian
Sue Stidger
Village President Zettek had been invited .by Alan Antonik to
this meeting for the purpose of providing the Board of Health with more
insight into the operational structure of the Village Government.
Village President Zettek briefly discussed the structure and
suggested the following procedures as the most expedient means tc be
employed by the Board of Health. in order to receive prompt action on
a particular recommendation.
The Board should submit their written recommendation and
supporting information to the Village Mana9er. To insure thorough
dissemination of this information, also distribute copies to the
Village President and Trustees .
A discussion regarding the need for the Village to formally �..
adopt the following two documents was held:
1 . U.S. Department of Agriculture Rules and
Regulations
2. U.S. Public. Health Code of 1962 (or more
current code if available)
The motion to submit these through the channels suggested by
the Village President was passed. Village Sanitarian Watson was asked
to pass this information on to the Village Manager.
The question was then raised as to the advisability of
utilizing this procedure for the implementation of the Recommendations
of the Comprehensive Health Survey, particularly the hirirrg of the
Community Health Coordinator imperative to the .implementation of any

of the succeeding recommendations.
Village President Zettek advised the Board that within the
month the Board of Health would receive- di-rection from the Board of
Trustees regarding the selection process -to be utilized-for the hiring
of-.an individual for this position.
Village President Zettek questioned the lack of attendance
of certain Board of Health members . He suggested the Board review the
attendance records of certain members and inform him by letter of
delinquent members and suggested replacements. for these Board positions.
He also suggested that perhaps some of the Physian members could more
effectively serve the Board in a Consultant capacity. This issue was .
tabled. for discussion at the next meeting.
Alan Antonik suggested . that perhaps a new meeting time would
enhance .the, attendance at meetings . Thursday at .8:00 A.M. was suggested
and met the approval of most members present. More information regarding
the next meeting time will be sent to members by Mr. Antonik.
Pat Bourke presented a brief report on her investigation of
the decontamination- procedure used by the Fire Depar-tment EMT and -Para-
medics. Discussion followed and the question was raised as to the
adequacy of this procedure for certain communicable diseases. It was
decided that due to time this discussion would be deferred to the
agenda of the next Board of Health meeting. .
