PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE INVOCATION PASTOR MIKE GATES, LIVING HOPE CHURCH 3.APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 28, 2017 Motion to approve the Minutes of the Regular Village Board Meeting held on February 28, 2017as submitted and dispense with the reading. MAYOR&BOARD OF TRUSTEES' REPORT - Mayor Johnson provided an update on recent meetings that were attended on behalf of the Village. March 2 - Mayor Johnson and Police Chief Walsh attended the Rotary Club meeting. The Mayor and Board of Trustee also attended the Elk Grove Chamber event at the Belvedere where there were over 300 representatives from the business community. March 4 - Mayor Johnson attended the Queen of the Rosary Annual Gala. March 9 - Mayor Johnson and Board of Trustees attended the annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner to thank the volunteers for the service that they provide to the community throughout the year. March 13 - Mayor Johnson attended a Tollway Customer Service Planning Meeting. With reference to the many vacant stores in the Village,the Mayor mentioned a recent article from the Chicago Tribune. The article listed 12 company chains that have closed over 1,366 stores recent due to the increase of online sales. We are thankful for the type of businesses that we have in Elk Grove Village. In FY'2016,the Village had a $95M worth of construction value in the business park and collected $1.3M in permit fees. In FY'2017 a quarter-billion dollars were invested and we collected almost$3M in fees. Our Business Park is churning because we are more of a manufacturing/industrial based community. In conjunction with the Youth Celebration activities, Mayor Johnson and Trustee Feichter asked representatives Betsy Boswell and Birdie Bisceglie from the Community Character Coalition to join them at the podium. The Academy begins on April 6, 2017 and runs for 6 weeks. Trustee Lissner- No Report. Trustee Petri - No Report. Trustee Czarnik-Applications for the Frank J. Czarnik Memorial Scholarships are available online at czarnikgol£com and the Village website. There are six (6) $1,000 scholarships available to Elk Grove Village residents that are graduating high school this year and attending college in the fall. Leadership and volunteerism are the attributes to be considered and the applications must be in by April 7, 2017. Trustee Feichter- No Report. Trustee Prochno -Thank you to the community for being good citizens and shoveling the sidewalks during yesterday's snowfall. The Lions Trivia Night was held on February 25, 2017 and was very successful with 20 full tables. The Lioness Club is offering the Betty Erickson Memorial Scholarship applications. There are two (2) $1,000 scholarship awards available to high school seniors that have demonstrated outstanding leadership, community participation, and service to the community. The student must be a high school senior, a resident of Elk Grove Village and will be attending a college university or trade school in the fall. The deadline is Saturday,April 1, 2017 and the winners will be notified by Monday, May 1, 2017. The Community Character Coalition is coordinating a raffle of a Chevy Corvette provided by Castle Chevrolet with hopes to raise funds for the VFW Hall on Devon Avenue. $100,000 is needed to install an elevator to make their facility ADA compliant. Tickets are available at ccceg.org and the price is $10/1 ticket or$20/3 tickets. We are close to the $50,000 mark as of today but we just received word that Amita Healthcare donated $5,000. 5.ACCOUNTS PAYABLE WARRANT: Motion to authorize payment of invoices as shown on the February 28, 2017 Accounts Payable Warrant in the amount of $1,514,643.73. PLAN COMMISSION - No items under the Plan Commission. 9. ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS - No items under the Zoning Board of Appeals. 10. HEALTH &COMMUNITY SERVICES - Trustee Czarnik-There will be a blood drive on Saturday,April 1, 2017 from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM in rooms A, B and C on the lower level of the Municipal Complex. 11. RECYCLING &WASTE COMMITTEE -Trustee Feichter- The Village newsletter should have arrived on Saturday. The front page talks about our first Earth Day recycling event that lists all of the items that are accepted. The event will be on Saturday,April 22, 2017 from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Elk Grove High School parking lot. 12.YOUTH COMMITTEE - Trustee Franke - The Youth Committee and the Elk Grove Parks Foundation are offering three (3) $1,000 scholarship awards. Applications are available at the high school career centers as well as on the Village website. Applicant must be a resident of Elk Grove Village and enrolled in a continuing education program. Applications are due by May 5, 2017 and the winners will be notified by May 31, 2017. 13. BUSINESS LEADERS FORUMS-Trustees Lissner/Petri - There is a meeting tomorrow with Alpha Omega Plastics located at 1099 Touhy Avenue and a BLF Steering Committee meeting at 11:30 AM at the Village Hall. Page 3 of 5 14. CABLE TELEVISION COMMITTEE -Trustee Lissner- No Report. 15. INFORMATION COMMITTEE - Trustee Prochno EGTV won awards in three (3) of the categories at the "Best of the Midwest Media Fest 2017" sponsored by Wisconsin Community Media and the Alliance for Community Media- Midwest Region. Those categories include: 1) The EGTV magazine series "A Walk in the Park" produced in cooperation with the Elk Grove Park District was awarded the Excellence Award in the Magazine Format/News Professional Category. This was the fifth consecutive award in this competition for Producer Debbi Dennison. 2) The EGTV Public Service Announcement AT&T U-Verse PSA was awarded the Excellence Award in the Public Service Announcement Category. This was Producer Scott Mayernick's first media award. 3) EGTV's Leaf Collection PSA 2017 Video was awarded an Achievement Award in the How To/Instructional Category. The Video Award was produced by Ross Rowe which was his fifth consecutive award in this competition. EGTV launched a bi-monthly program called "Elk Grove Update" to provide a fast-paced news magazine designed for both cable and online audiences. You can view this program on EGTV's On-demand page at egtv.viebit.com as well as the EGTV schedule at 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM daily. EGTV also launched a Roku streaming service for anyone that has a Roku TV or streaming appliance that can search on the Roku homepage for EGTV. For more information, go to www.roku.com or contact EGTV. 16. PARADE COMMITTEE - Trustee Czarnik-The 2017 Hometown Parade will take place on Saturday,June 17, 2017 at 2:00 PM. The theme this year is "Storybook Land" and the Committee is inviting anyone with a crowd friendly pet to walk in the parade. The Grand Marshal for the Parade is Steve Schmidt. PERSONNEL COMMITTEE - Trustee Franke -There are a few openings left for hiring summer seasonal employees for the Public Works Department. The position runs approximately 10 weeks and the pay is $11.51 an hour. Applications are available on the Village website and questions can be directed to 847-357-4020. 18.JUDICIARY, PLANNING AND ZONING COMMITTEE - Trustee Lissner-The JPZ Committee met this afternoon to discuss requests for resubdivisions of two different properties. One is at 2080 Lunt Avenue to be divided from 3 lots into 1 lot, and the other property is at 2201 Arthur Avenue to be divided from 5 lots into 1 lot. The consensus of the committee was to approve the request and bring to the full board. 19. CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS COMMITTEE - Trustee Petri - Public Works did a fine job on the streets the last couple of days. They are getting ready to start the projects that are scheduled for the spring. 20.AIRPORT UPDATE - Mayor Johnson -The ONCC approved the first 12-week rotation plan. The work with JDA and SOC has been beneficial. There have been modifications made for the 2nd plan of 12 weeks. Then there will be the final closure of Runway 33 and the opening of the new final runway. 21. MID-SUMMER CLASSICS CONCERT SERIES UPDATE - Mayor Johnson- The summer concert line-up is as follows: July 4, 2017 -Ambrosia, Orleans, Mitch Ryder and The Guess Who (Rotary Green) July 11, 2017 - Credence Clearwater Revisited (Village Green) July 18, 2017 - Rodney Atkins (Village Green) July 25, 2017 - Kool and the Gang (Village Green) 22. SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE - Mayor Johnson -The next special event is the Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 29, 2017 at 10:45 AM inside the gymnasium of the Pavilion. Page 4 of 5 23. LIQUOR COMMISSION - Mayor Johnson - No Report. 24. REPORT FROM VILLAGE MANAGER-Village Manager Rummel - No Report. 25. REPORT FROM VILLAGE CLERK- Lorrie Murphy- Early Voting begins on Monday, March 20, 2017 and runs through Monday,April 3, 3017 here at the Village Hall. The hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Saturday. There are no Sunday hours for this election. Mail ballots are available in the Village Clerk's Office and on the Cook County website at cookcountyclerk.com/VoteByMail. 26. UNFINISHED BUSINESS - No items under Unfinished Business. 27.
