ELK GROVE VILLAGE PLAN COMMISSION
July 12, 1976
The regular meeting of the Plan Commission was called to order
at 8:25 p.m. on Monday, July 12, 1976, in the Council Chambers of
the Municipal Building, 901 Wellington Avenue.
MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT:
William Shannon Alvin Krasnow
William Wesley Stanley Klyber
Thomas Hamilton Leah Cummins
Warren Jacobson STAFF PRESENT:
Edward Hauser Thomas Rettenbacher, Building Comr.
Gary Parrin, Administrative Asst.
Gaurilos Special-Use Permit
Hamilton moved to deny the Gaurilos request for a special-use
permit to construct a restaurant at the southwest corner of Devon
Avenue and Elmhurst Road due to the danger of an aircraft crash at
the site. In addition, the site would be put to better use for
industrial purposes which would not attract as many people. Hauser
seconded the motion.
The Administrative Assistant informed the Commission that he
had spoken with the FAA. The FAA had no objections to the restaurant,
but were awaiting a report from the petitioner on electro-magnetic
interference.
The Airline Pilots' Association was also contacted through
Joe Davies. His concern was to prevent glaring or vision obstructing
signs on top of the restaurant.
Hamilton stated that it is not good planning for a restaurant
at that location. it is in the best interest of the Village to
keep the land for industrial purposes. Wesley noted that the
Police Department may prefer not to generate traffic in the
industrial park area after normal working hours. A restaurant
would require constant surveillance and require increased patrol
activities.
All present voted to deny the special-use petition.
Centex Industrial Park Unit 207
Wesley moved to approve the subdivision. Hamilton seconded the
motion. All present voted "Aye".
Arvi dson
Shannon found nothing objectionable with Hauser's minority
report. It states his position very well.
