AN ORDINANCE GRANTING AN ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIAL USE TO THE
VILLAGE TO PERMIT THE CONSTRUCTION, REMODELING AND LOCATION IN
SEVERAL ZONED DISTRICTS AS WELL AS RELATED VARIATIONS WITH
RESPECT TO SIGNAGE, STORAGE, SIZE OF DETACHED ACCESSORY
STRUCTURE AND PRINCIPAL STRUCTURES FOR THE BIESTERFIELD ROAD
PUBLIC WORKS GARAGE AND THE NEW DEVON AVENUE PUBLIC WORKS
FACILITY
WHEREAS,the Village of Elk Grove Village is a Home Rule Municipality as
established and set forth in the Constitution of the State of Illinois and as such, is empowered to
enact legislation with respect to its government and affairs; and
WHEREAS, 65 ILCS 5/11-13-1 authorizes the Village to enact legislation with
respect to the height, size and location of buildings as well as the regulation of the use of open
space surrounding such buildings; and
WHEREAS,the Village is in the process of remodeling, reconstructing and relocating
Public Works facilities,which facilities will require the granting of Special Use Permits with
respect to zoning location as well as necessary variations of the Zoning Ordinance and Municipal
Code to provide for and insure that said structures meet the needs and provide for the best
utilization of the properties for their intended purpose.
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage Illinois as follows:
Section 1: That there be granted the Special Use Permits and necessary variations of the
Village's Zoning Ordinance and Municipal Code to permit the location, remodeling and
construction where applicable, of the Biesterfield Road West Side Public Works Facility and the
new Devon Avenue Public Works Facility, all as set forth on Exhibit A attached hereto.

Section 2: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage
and approval according to law.

EXHIBIT A
I. Public Works West Garage
A. Grant a Special Use Permit to permit a Public Works facility at 1635 Biesterfield
Road.
B. Grant a variation of Section 8-4-3-1:E of the Village Code to permit a monument
sign which is seven feet(7') in height and 80 square feet in area.
C. Grant a variation of Section 4-3:C-6 of the Zoning Ordinance to allow less than 1/2
foot candle of light at the parking lot and driving aisles.
D. Grant a variation of Section 3-7:D-2 of the Zoning Ordinance to permit a detached
accessory structure of thirty-four(34') feet in height and 9,024 square feet in gross
floor area.
E. Grant a combined variation of Section 7A-1-A"Permitted Uses" and Section 7A-1-
D "Prohibited Uses" in an R-3 Zoned District to permit outdoor storage of bulk
materials.
F. Grant a variation of Section 8-3B-2:14.1 of the Village Code to permit a salt barn
structure without sprinkler protection.
II. Devon Avenue New Public Works Facility
A. Grant a Special Use Permit to permit a Public Works facility at 450 E. Devon
Avenue.
B. Grant a variation of Section 8-4-3-1:E of the Village Code to permit a monument
sign which is seven feet(7') in height and 80 square feet in area.
C. Grant a combined variation of Section 7A-1-A "Permitted Uses" and Section 7A-1-
D "Prohibited Uses" in an R-3 Zoned District to permit outdoor storage of bulk
materials.
D. Grant a variation of Section 4-3:C-6 of the Zoning Ordinance to allow less than 1/2
foot candle of light at the parking lot and driving aisles.
E. Grant a variation of Section 7A-1:F-1 of the Zoning Ordinance to permit an eight
(8') foot high fence.
F. Grant a variation of Section 8-3B-2:14.1 of the Village Code to permit a salt barn
structure without sprinkler protection.
G. Grant a variation of Section 8-12B-1-1-D to eliminate the requirement for a rear
yard utility easement.
H. Grant a variation of Section 3-7:D-2 of the Zoning Ordinance to permit a detached
accessory structure of forty-two feet and five and one-fourth inches (42'-51/4") in
height and 91,985 square feet in gross floor area.
