Mayor Johnson extended condolences on behalf of himself, the Village Board and the

Trustee Prochno thanked the Elk Grove Village Fire Department for recently coming to
the rescue of her father. The Fire Department responded quickly and professionally to a
9-1-1 call from Trustee Prochno for assistance. Trustee Prochno also complimented
Alexian Brothers Hospital for their professional and caring services.
Trustee Feichter attended a special Mayors' meeting on behalf of Mayor Johnson with
the Woodfield Chicago Northwest Convention & Visitors Bureau on January 14, 2010.
People from the State of Illinois Tourism Board were present to discuss local tourism
marketing. Trustee Feichter found it interesting that Joliet Prison is emerging as a major
tourist destination and they are trying to develop it to become similar to Alcatraz in San
Francisco, California. There were approximately ten thousand visitors to the prison last
year and they would like to build on that to increase the number of future visitors.
It was discussed that trade show business is down and will probably continue to stay
down in the near future. There was emphasis on building destination marketing and
tourism to make up for the losses suffered from the loss of trade shows. Massive
