Organization of the Zoning Ordinance Subcommittee
Chairman Glass asked Staff to review the proposed organizational
changes recommended by the-Subcommittee on January 20, 1982.
Conditional Business Use Subcommittee
Cummins, representing the Conditional Business Use Subcommittee,
presented that Subcommittee's recommendation. It is recommended by
the Subcommittee that the Village consider the rezoning of areas along
Higgins Road, Busse Road, Elmhurst Road and Rohlwing Road to various
business classifications (B-1, B-2 and B-3) .
Glass noted that eventually the Conditional Business Use Subcommittee
recommendation would be included in the same public hearing along with
recommended changes to the Comprehensive Plan (if any) .
Cummins pointed out that the Subcommittee recommendation may impact
the need for sidewalks in the new commercial areas. Fulton added that
parking will be impacted as well - ingress and egress at some locations
may be difficult.
Glass asked whether the Commission should consider rezoning Devon
Avenue east of Busse Road to a business use, and expressed concern
over rezoning a residential area (Rohlwing Road) to business.
Parking Regulations Subcommittee
Stangeland, Chairman of the Parking Regulations Subcommittee,
called a meeting to be held on Wednesday, February 17, 1982 at 7:00
p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Municipal Building, 901 Wellington
Avenue.
Plan Commission Minutes - 2 - February 3, 1982
Parking Regulations Subcommittee (continued)
Paliganoff stated that the Subcommittee is attempting to determine
what factors will determine parking requirements in the future.
Glass added that the auto industry may make lighter, not smaller
cars and that a need for full-size cars still exists. Stangeland
related that in fact the Japanese are beginning to offer upsize auto-
mobiles. He further suggested that the Subcommittee not anticipate a
general downsigning of automobiles in the future. Fulton observed
that people are also keeping the autos they own for longer periods of
time.
Cummins suggested that the Greater O'Hare Association of Industry
and Commerce might be a good source of information on parking issues.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:30 p.m.
Respectfully submitted:
