Public Hearing - Docket 84-3: Petition of George Kittrer
for a Text Amendment to the Zoning Ordinance
The Public Hearing was called to order by Chairman Glass at 8:13 p.m.
Mr. Rolf Campbell, representing the petitioner, presented the proposed
changes to the Elk Grove Village Zoning Ordinance to establish a conditional
use in the B-2 General Business District.
Members of the Plan Commission queried the petitioner, George Kittnar
about his proposed use for a school of trucking. Questions included
length of lease, number of students, length of course, square footage,
license requirements, information with regard to instructor's qualifications,
start-up period, location of behind the wheel training and expansion
possibilities. It was stressed by Thomas Rettenbacher, Building Commissioner
that the request is to allow business and trade schools in the B-2 district,
not just this school of trucking.
The Public Hearing was adjourned at 9:05 p.m.
The Plan Commission revised the proposed language for the Text
Amendment. It is attached to this report. Leah Cummins moved that
the Text Amendment, as revised, be recommended to the Village Board.
It was seconded by George Mullen and passed unanimously by voice vote.
The Plan Commission stipulated their recommendation that the Village
business license be conditioned on the petitioner obtaining a state
license within 60 days of May 16 or the Village license shall be revoked.
Staff was directed to prepare a finding of fact.
