HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE & POLICE COMMISSION - 12/10/2009 - ELIGIBILITY LIST/HIRING STATUS c: Village Clerk MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON DECEMBER 10, 2009 Chairman Shapiro called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. in the Fire Administration Building, 901 Brantwood Avenue, Elk Grove Village, Illinois, and noted for the record that the following members were present: Chairman Alan J. Shapiro, DDS, Secretary E. Butch Ehrke, and Commissioner Michael P. Kontek. Guests Present: John Bantner, Chief Steve Schmidt and Diane Schultz, Fire Union Observer. It was moved by Commissioner Kontek and seconded by Commissioner Ehrke that the minutes of November 17, 2009 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro declared the motion carried. PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES 1. Illinois Fire Chiefs Association, Invoice dated December 8, 2009 in the amount of $11,406.26 for assessment of(18) Fire Lieutenant Candidates. CORRESPONDENCE 1. Memo to Village Clerk advising that the December 17, 2009 regular meeting of the Board of Fire & Police Commissioners has been changed to December 10, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. Meeting will take place at the Fire Administration Building. OLD BUSINESS 1. Meeting with Chief Schmidt. Discussed staffing and status of the current police officer eligibility list. NEW BUSINESS 1. Discussed firefighter eligibility list scheduled to expire on January 18, 2010. Motion made by Chairman Shapiro and seconded by Secretary Ehrke to extend the eligibility list six months in accordance with Rules and Regulations. Revised expiration date will be July 18, 2010. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro declared the motion carried. Minutes of the Regular Meeting December 10,2009 Page I of 2 ELIGIBILITY LIST/HIRING STATUS 1. Police Officer—two vacancies on hold at this time. Twenty-seven names remain on the current eligibility list scheduled to expire on August 1, 2010. 2. Firefighter—no vacancies. Thirty-six names remain on the current eligibility list scheduled to expire on January 18, 2010. 3. Police Sergeant Eligibility List—Ten names appear on the new eligibility list which will expire on February 4, 2012. 4. Fire Lieutenant List—Eligibility list expired on June 24, 2009. ADJOURNMENT It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded Commissioner Kontek that the meeting be adjourned.
