AN ORDINANCE GRANTING AN ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIAL USE TO THE
VILLAGE TO PERMIT THE CONSTRUCTION AND LOCATION IN SEVERAL
ZONED DISTRICTS AS WELL AS RELATED VARIATIONS WITH RESPECT TO
SIGNAGE, STORAGE, HEIGHTS, SETBACKS, DETACHED ACCESSORY
STRUCTURES, FENCING AND PRINCIPAL STRUCTURES FOR THE MEACHAM
FIRE STATION, FARGO FIRE STATION AND THE NEW DEVON AVENUE PUBLIC
WORKS FACILITY
WHEREAS, the Village of Elk Grove Village is a Home Rule Municipality as
established and set forth in the Constitution of the State of Illinois and as such, is empowered to
enact legislation with respect to its government and affairs; and
WHEREAS, 65 ILCS 5/11-13-1 authorizes the Village to enact legislation with
respect to the height, size and location of buildings as well as the regulation of the use of open
space surrounding such buildings; and
WHEREAS, the Village is in the process of reconstructing and relocating Fire Stations
and Public Works facilities, which facilities will require the granting of Special Use Permits with
respect to zoning location as well as necessary variations of the Zoning Ordinance and Municipal
Code to provide for and insure that said structures meet the needs and provide for the best
utilization of the properties for their intended purpose.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage Illinois as follows:
Section 1: That there be granted the Special Use Permits and necessary variations of the
Village's Zoning Ordinance and Municipal Code to permit the location, reconstruction and
construction where applicable, of the Meacham Fire Station, the new Fargo Fire Station, and the
new Devon Avenue Public Works Facility, all as set forth on Exhibit A attached hereto.
Section 2: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage
and approval according to law.

EXHIBIT A
I. Fire Station 10
A. Grant a Special Use Permit for a Fire Station at 676 Meacham Road pursuant to Section
7A-1:E of the Zoning Ordinance.
B. Grant a Variation of Section 7-1 of the Zoning Ordinance to permit a Building Height of
forty-one (41') feet.
C. Grant a Variation of Section 7-1 (Bulk Yard Requirements) to permit a ten (10') foot side
yard setback.
D. Grant a Sign Variation of Section 8-4-3-1:E of the Municipal Code to permit a sign in
excess of forty-five (45) square feet.
II. Fire Station 8
A. Grant a Special Use Permit pursuant to Section 3-5:B of the Zoning Ordinance to permit
a Fire Station at 770 Fargo.
B. Grant a Variation of Section 3-6:B of the Zoning Ordinance to permit two accessory
structures.
C. Grant a Variation of Section 7E-9:A of the Zoning Ordinance to permit an eight (8') foot
high fence.
III. Devon Avenue Public Works Facility
A. Grant a variation of Section 7A-1:F-1 of the Zoning Ordinance to permit a twelve (12')
foot high screen wall.
