Inc.. on their goal of $250,000 . COMMITTEE REPORTS: Elk Grove Distance Classic: Given by Barbara Pohn 481 runners participated in the Classic; Dick Penley' s high school students helped a great deal; Alexian Brothers Medical Center provided a large number of volunteers; about $3,400 . 00 net, will be realized from the Classic which the staff of the Community Service office sees as a major success . Despite some problems with obtaining accurate information on race- results ( a resolution of this problem is pending), the Classic was a success in terms of the number of runners - more this year than at last years . Classic; and also with respect to its finances and contributors. CSB Minutes Page two Senior Citizen Concern Committee: Distributed to the members of the Board was the Senior Citizen Concern report, September, 1988, prepared by Nancy Eike. This study deserves the Board' s serious attention and should be read by the next meeting. Hence a discussion. of the report will be on the agenda for the next meeting of the Board. A house will be painted in October by the participants in . the intergenerational program; Serve Our Seniors ( SOS) program, a joint venture between District #214 and Northwest Service Coordination. for Health Impaired Elderly. This program, using students, will provide maintenance and small project services in the homes of seniors at minimal cost, depending on the ability of the resident to afford same. - OLD -BUSINESS: Affordable housing issue - The -current problem with people preparing to leave Hamilton- Court for other locations is that the vouchers being provided through HUD are less than what was expected, so many residents. will have to pay more than the 34% of their monthly income on rent and utilities, which normally is not. allowable according to the conditions of participation in the subsidized housing program. Because 43 families are involved and Hamilton Court discontinues its association with the Federal Government for those families as of October 31, there is need for Ms .
