Call to Order :
The meeting was called to order at 8 :03 p.m. Glen Sparesus
did his presentation on the Optimist Club. The Optimists
have targeted Elk Grove for their expansion project. Dick
Penley moved to approve the minutes from the meeting. Ruth
Guest seconded. Minutes were approved.
Coordinator ' s Report : Given by Nancy Eike
Nancy and Marty visited 4 schools and recruited 96 students
for Y.E. S.
Nancy was elected Vice President of Publicity for NSCCS. .
Reception at Alexian Brothers for Jo Willard was well
attended and very nice.
Elder Abuse program was extended until the fall at which
point a state wide program will be instituted.
Flowers were planted to kick off United Way program and
to honor the 100th anniversary. Nancy reported on United
Way and the Northwest Municipal Conference meeting.
Nancy was asked to serve on the Advisory. Council for the
Budget and Financial Counseling program at CEDA. This
program is for Elk Grove residents only. Ruth suggested
that a service be provided to assist elderly with medicare
forms .
Nancy is on vacation from May 25 - 29 .
Coordination of Service : Given by Barbara Pohn
Meeting was in May. 14 people attended. The consensus
was not to meet in June, July and August, and resume in
September.

and once gotten printing and T-shirts will be ordered.
We may use the new courtroom for registration and washrooms .
Alexian Brothers will again buy the pins, t-shirts will
be white on blue and dated. Good progress is being made
and everything is progressing on schedule .
Intergenerational Ad Hoc Committee : Given by Dick Penley
The program is slowing because of the end of the school
year. Dick reported that no seniors have taken advantage
of the Auto Repair program. Nancy said that information
would be put in the Kenneth W. Young Senior Newsletter.
Ruth commented that the seniors need to be assured that
the youth can be trusted and confidence built. Reports
will be discontinued until September.
Paint Distribution Program: Given by Dick Penley
A grant is being written to do remodeling and repair work
for Senior Citizens. The concept being that the seniors
would not have to abandon their homes because of- the inability
to take care of them. The Rotary will provide paint for
3 homes - labor will- be by homeowners themselves.
Youth Employment Service : Given by Nancy Eike
Nancy wants to see it expanded and would like to do training
for them. Mr. Willis said as a referral system, we could
not do this . Dick suggested that training be mandatory.
Government Surplus Food Distribution : Given by Nancy
Eike
Per Mr. Willis, we cannot do this project because we are
a referral service.
Discussion ensued about how we view our role, -as a referral
service or as a delivery service . Harriet Dalaskey moved
to have Nancy prepare a proposal about each program endorsing
them for presentation to the Village Board. Dennis Gallitano
seconded. Motion carried. Proposals will be started
for the June meeting.
New Business :
Ray reported that Ruth, Dick and Marge are invited to
the May 26th Board meeting for recognition of 8 years
of service.
Executive session was started at 9 :07 p.m. and ended at
9 : 20 p.m.
Announcements :
Next regular Community Service Board meeting will be Thursday,
June 18 , 1987 at 8 : 00 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose room.
Randy Melind moved to adjourn the meeting at 9 : 21 p.m.
Ruth Guest seconded. Motion carried.
