MEETING MINUTES
Thursday, March 19, 1987

Call to Order :
The meeting was called to order at 8 : 02 p.m. Approval
of the minutes from the February 19 , 1987 meeting was
postponed because a quorum wasn' t present.
Coordinator' s Report: Given by Nancy Eike
Golden- Kettle Award presentation will be at the Board
of Trustees meeting on Tuesday, March 24 .
The Y.E. S. program of Milton Township Committee on Youth
was researched. Nancy will draft - a proposal on how the
Elk Grove program could be improved and the Milton Township
Director is available to discuss it with Mr. Willis if
he requests it.
Nancy will submit information to Robin Weaver for the
next issue of the Villager on the following topics : Volunteer
Recognition Program, Y.E.S. Program, Golden Kettle Award
and possibly something on communication with children.
The Elk Grove Village Junior Woman ' s Club donated two
Easter Baskets for needy families .
Coordination of Service :
Keith Lewis, Teacher and counselor at Elgin Community
College in Elgin was the speaker at the Coordination of
Services meeting on Wednesday, March 18 . He spoke on
"Adventures in Attitudes" and "Winning" . Attendance was
poor. Next month ' s topic is "Children of Divorce" , on
April 22 at 8 : 45 in the Fleming Room of the Elk Grove
Village Public Library.
Budget Committee :
A few minor cuts were made to the budget. The computer
request was refused.
A discussion about a title change for Nancy was started.
The goal is to have her title be "Director" .

Elk Grove Distance Classic: Given by Nancy Eike
Brother Kennedy appointed a representative from the hospital.
Ann Kowalkowski will serve. T-shirts will be royal blue.
A committee meeting is set for March 26 at 2 : 00 in the
Community Services office. We will need to vote at the
next meeting on taking $200 as seed money. The finisher
from last year will do it again.
Board Member Recommendations :
Ray has spoken with 2 principals and found 5 residents
who fulfill our requirements . The 5 candidates were asked
to contact Ray if they were interested. Additional information
will be reported at the next meeting.
Volunteer Recognition : Given by Nancy Eike
Twenty volunteers were nominated, three were chosen. Sandi
Brust, Jo Willard and Marie Nolan. Profiles are available
from Nancy. They will be invited to the Awards Dinner
on April 24 .
Government Surplus Food Distribution Program: Given by
Nancy Eike
A proposal was sent to the Township about the program.
The Township will discuss it at their March 23 meeting
and Nancy will report their response at the next meeting.
CEDA served 350-360 people in February. Almost 1/3 are
from Elk Grove.
Paint Distribution Program: Reported by Nancy Eike
The committee discussed screening recipients and then
contacting service organizations .
New Business :
No report
Due to no quorum the meeting was ended without the necessary
motion.
The next meeting will be announced after Marty calls members
about scheduling. A tentative date is April 9 , 1987 .
