MEETING MINUTES
Thursday, January 15 , 1987

Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order at 8 : 10 p.m. Mary Paliganoff
moved to approve Novembers minutes. Barbara Rettberg
seconded it. Motion carried.
Coordinator ' s Report: Given by Nancy Eike
Paint Distribution Project. DeSoto was contacted but
Nancy was told that the nature of this donation is not L
in line with their by-laws. Cannot be used for individual-- -
families. Another letter has been sent to Sears . Mary
Paliganoff suggested that Grove Paint and Wallpaper be
contacted. Nancy will contact them.
February 17th at 10 : 40 and 11 : 35 at Elk Grove High School,
Doug Collins will speak on "Saying No to Drugs" .
Pastor Nations of the First Baptist church asked if. setting
up a network system within churches and Community Service
was possible, especially in regards to homeless people .
He is concerned that people are abusing the system, going
from church to church and many of the smaller churches
are not able to help continuously. Wants me to do a survey
of what each church does and ask them about networking.
Eventually he would like to see a central pool of funds
formed of which Community Service would administer for
emergency shelter. Nancy will send out the survey to

see other' s response.
Nancy is on the Agency/Community Relations committee and
the Needs Assessment Committee for Elk Grove United Way. I�
Nancy spoke with the Township about the Surplus Food Distribution
project and they are not interested. Dennis suggested
we ask for space in Village Hall. Everyone agreed that
there is a need for this and the program should not be
dismissed. Nancy will be writing a memo to Mr. Willis
identifying the need and our request.

Coordination of Services : Given by Nancy Eike
The program for December was on "Preventing Professional
Burnout" given by Lawrence Henrich, Ph.D. , Head of Forensic
Services for Associates on Adolescent Psychiatry. 14
people attended.
Budget Committee : Given by Nancy Eike
The 1987-1988 budget was submitted on January 12 , 1987 .
A 21% increase was indicated due to office equipment and
furniture requests : conference chairs , bookcase, file
cabinet, CRT unit; and the addition of the Senior Taxi
Cab Program to our budget at an average cost of $7000
annually. This was previously funded by Federal Revenue
Sharing which ended last year. Also noted was an upgrade
for the clerk/receptionist position to that of Secretary.
The salary increase would be $893 .
Intergenerational Ad Hoc Committee :
Dick was absent so there was no report.
Old Business :
No report.
New Business :
Board Member Recommendation: A letter was sent to Mr.
Zettek regarding the vacancy on the Community Service
Board and how it is to be filled, -what process to follow.
To date Ray has not received a response . He will wait
a few weeks and call Mr. Zettek. Dennis said that this
item has been brought up to Mr. Zettek and that Mr. Zettek
would be contacting the school districts for recommendations.
Election of Board Officers : Ray Gunn announced that the
Board will need to elect officers at the February meeting.
Volunteer Recognition Program: Nancy said planning will
begin for the Volunteer Recognition. program and asked
for suggestions . Mary suggested contacting the paper.
Barbara suggested sending recommendation material to service
clubs. Nancy will be mailing these out.
Barbara Rettberg motioned to adjourn the meeting, Ray
Gunn seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 8 : 40 p.m.
