HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMMUNITY SERVICES - 10/07/1986 - MEETING MINUTES Minutes Village of Elk Grove Board of Health October 7, 1986 The regular meeting of the Elk Grove Village Board of Health was called to order by Pat McHale, Chairman, at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of- the Elk Grove Village Hall. Low Cost Health Care Update The Task Force submitted a letter of intent to the Chicago Community Trust requesting funds to study the need for low cost medical care' in the northwest suburbs. A decision by the Trust will be made on October 16th. B. Congregate Senior Housing Update The. Village Attorney has not yet made his revisions to the Proposed Senior Congregate Housing Ordinance. It is not certain that Dominion is following through with the project. C. Taskforce for Community Impact Study of Senior Citizen Population Update . This project will be initiated this month by the Health Department. Plans should be available by the November meeting of the Board of Health. D. Proposed Tanning Booth Ordinance Update Dr. Greenberg sent a letter to Pat McHale expressing his professional views on tanning booths. The Board of Health's philosophy is in agreement with Dr. Greenberg and would like -to pursue the proposed adoption of a "Tanning Booth"Ordinance. " E. Radon Recommendation - Northwest Municipal Conference The NWMC Health Director's Committee on Radon studied the problem of Radon and came out with a recommendation which municipalities may be interested in pursuing. It recommends that municipalities distribute copies of the U.S.E.P.A. 's pamphlet entitled "A Citizen's Guide to Radon." The NWMC will jointly purchase radon test kits and offer them to member communities to sell to residents. Minutes - Board of Health October 7, 1986 - page 2 -After- some discussion of the subject, Dr. Labinsky moved "that the Village offer kits to residents at cost along with educational materials on Radon." The motion was- seconded and passed unanimously. The proposed program will be. for-warded to Mr. Willis for his comments. F. In Home Day Care Ordinance No Report II. Routine Reports A. Coordinator's Report The Housing Inspector has been doing concentrated inspections at Carroll Square. Hopefully his efforts will be fruitful. Sanitarian's Report Several new restaurants are opening - McDonalds is being built at Strawberry Hill Plaza - Meacham & Biesterfield and Taco Bell will also be built on that site. Rocky Rococco is being built on Nerge east of Rohlwing. A Pizza Hut is scheduled to be built at Elk Crossing at Arlington Heights Road and .Biesterfield.
