Roger Schindel Terri Puhr Call to Order : The meeting was .called to order at 8 : 00 p.m. Dick Penley motioned to approve the minutes . Harriet seconded it. The motion was carried. Coordinator ' s Report : Given by Lynette Swanson Written report is attached. Lynette recently attended a meeting of the Citizens Advisory Council of the Elk Grove Schaumburg Townships Mental Health Center. They have hired a new clinical director, a new intake coordinator and a director of development. The director of development is launching a fundraising campaign in the two township area which has begun with the distribution of a newsletter entitled, "Mental Health Matters" . The Citizen Advisory Council is in the process of recruiting for new membership. There will be a meeting of parents who are concerned about the local alcohol/drug usage among our Village teenagers . This meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 1985 at 7 : 30 at the Village Hall . Community Service was instrumental in setting up this meeting. Discussion was held on the lack of response to the Park District ' s After School program. Lynette will follow up with the Park District on this. Coordination of Services Committee : Given by Barbara Pohn Darlene Hennessey, CRTC, Of Alexian Brothers Medical Center spoke about "Adult Children of Alcoholics : Diagnosis and Treatment. Next month' s program will be on "Adolescent Disorders : Diagnosis and Treatment" . Elk Grove Distance Classic Allocations Committee : Given by Barbara Pohn Lynette distributed an accounting of the budget for the 1985 Distance Classic. Proceeds from the race totalled $2 , 947 . 90 , however due to a carry-over from last year, there is $3, 468 . 66 available for allocation to various youth programs in the Village. Barbara reported CSB Minutes Page two that the committee has not met as they have not yet gotten a list of the needs from all of the various youth agencies . They will probably be meeting within the next week or SO. Dick Penley motioned to order .250 brochures entitled, "Preventing Drug Abuse" , the cost not to exceed $100; these pamphlets should be donated to Youth Services of" Elk Grove Township for use in Operation Snowball. The cost of these brochures will be paid out of the proceeds from the Elk Grove Distance Classic. Harriet Dalaskey seconded it. Motion carried. Carl VanGundy has $500 left over from last year ' s donation to the Park District for the purchase of a juke box. They were able to have their old juke box repaired for free. The Board felt that Carl should use his discretion in spending the money for needs at the Teen Center. Budget Committee : A meeting of the Budget Committee will be held shortly to begin planning for the 1986-87 budget. Intergenerational Ad Hoc Committee : Ruth Guest cannot chair this committee due to other commitments. Sheila Ray from Grant Wood Senior Center is interested in serving on the committee. Dick Penley volunteered to chair the committee. Roger Schindel will also be involved on this committee. Old Business : Board Organizational Meeting: A report prepared by Alice Wright and Bill Howard was submitted to the Board. This report summarizes the discussion held at the Board Organizational Meeting held on October lst. Ray Gunn asked Board members to review this report for further discussion at our November Board meeting. Organ Donations : Harriet Dalaskey reported on her research into the Living Bank and how to set -up an organ donation program. She will be preparing a report to be distributed in next month' s Board packet. New Business : Food Distribution Program: At Lynette ' s direction, Terri Puhr wrote a proposal for "The Implementation of the Title II Federal Food Commodities Program in the Village of Elk Grove" . A copy of this proposal was given to Board members. The Board thought it was a great idea and suggested volunteers be involved in setting it up so it ' s not a program to be maintained by the Community Service office. The Board was asked to review this proposal for action at our next meeting. CSB Minutes Page three The Board went into Executive Session at 9 :07 p.m. The Board reconvened at 9 : 20 p.m. Harriet Dalaskey motioned to adjourn. Mary Paliganoff seconded the motion.
