HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE & POLICE COMMISSION - 04/20/2010 - FIRE & POLICE COMMISSION MEETING c: Village Clerk MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON APRIL 20, 2010 Chairman Shapiro called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and noted for the record that the following members were present: Chairman Alan J. Shapiro DDS, Secretary E. Butch Ehrke, and Commissioner Michael P. Kontek. It was moved by Commissioner Kontek and seconded by Commissioner Ehrke that the minutes of February 16, 2010 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro declared the motion carried. PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES 1. None CORRESPONDENCE 1. Memo to Village Clerk advising that the Regular Meeting of the Fire &Police Commission scheduled for March 16, 2010 has been cancelled. 2. Written Reprimand dated February 17, 2010 issued to Police Officer for violating Rules and Regulations of the Elk Grove Village Police Department, Section 26.1.1A, Rules of Conduct, Rule 33 (Failure to be prompt for duty assignment). 3. Written Reprimand dated March 31, 2010 to Police Officer for violating Rules and Regulations of the Elk Grove Village Police Department, Section 26.1.1, Rules of Conduct, Rule 09 (Inattention to Duty). 4. Memo from Deputy Chief Dion Zinnel announcing his retirement effective June 1, 2010 after over thirty years of service. 5. Memo from Police Officer Richard Mason announcing his retirement effective May 15, 2010 after over thirty years of service. 6. Retirement congratulations letters to Deputy Chief Dion Zinnel and Officer Rick Mason. OLD BUSINESS 1. Discussed extension of eligibility lists. Instructed secretary to obtain clarification from attorney with reference to amending the Commission's Rules and Regulations. Minutes of the Regular Meeting 20 April 2010 Page 1 of 2 NEW BUSINESS 1. Meeting with Chief Schmidt to discuss staffing. ELIGIBILITY LIST/BMUNG STATUS 1. Police Officer—four vacancies on hold at this time. Twenty-seven names remain on the current eligibility list scheduled to expire on August 1, 2010. 2. Firefighter—no vacancies. Thirty-six names remain on the current eligibility list scheduled to expire on July 18, 2010. 3. Police Sergeant Eligibility List—Ten names appear on the eligibility list scheduled to expire on February 4, 2012. 4. Fire Lieutenant List—Eleven names appear on the eligibility list scheduled to expire on January 6, 2012. ADJOURNMENT It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded Commissioner Kontek that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro declared the motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 6:30 p.m. Respectfully submitted, C E.
