MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
HELD ON MAY 18, 2010
Chairman Shapiro called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Building,
901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and noted for the record that the following
members were present: Chairman Alan J. Shapiro DDS, Secretary E. Butch Ehrke, and
Commissioner Michael P. Kontek.
It was moved by Commissioner Kontek and seconded by Commissioner Ehrke that the
minutes of April 20, 2010 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with
the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman
Shapiro declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
1. None
CORRESPONDENCE
1
1. Order of Suspension dated May 6, 2010 issued to police officer for violating Rules
and Regulations of the Elk Grove Village Police Department, Section 26.1.1 A,
Rules of Conduct, Rule 33 (Failure to be prompt for duty assignment).
2. Order of Suspension dated May 14, 2010 issued to police officer for violating
Rules and Regulations of the Elk Grove Village Police Department, Section
26.1.1A, Rules of Conduct, Rules 09 and I 1 (Inattention to Duty and Inefficiency
in the Performance of a Duty).
OLD BUSINESS
1. Discussed extension of eligibility lists. Rule change was drafted and Commission
instructed Secretary to forward to Commission Attorney for approval and/or
revision.
NEW BUSINESS

ELIGIBILITY LIST/HIRING STATUS
1. Police Officer—four vacancies on hold at this time. Twenty-seven names remain
on the current eligibility list scheduled to expire on August 1, 2010.
2. Firefighter—no vacancies. Thirty-six names remain on the current eligibility list
scheduled to expire on July 18, 2010.
3. Police Sergeant Eligibility List —Ten names appear on the eligibility list scheduled
to expire on February 4, 2012.
4. Fire Lieutenant List—Eleven names appear on the eligibility list scheduled to
expire on January 6, 2012.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded Commissioner Kontek that the meeting
be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro
declared the motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
