Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:06 PM.
Action Items: Approval of the Minutes
Trustee Dick Scholten made a motion to approve the minutes from May 19, 2010. The motion was seconded
by Jim Morrill. The minutes were unanimously approved.
Community Service Coordinator Report
Community Service Coordinator CSC) Report-
Food Pantry-The CSC met with representatives of the Elk Grove Food Pantry. They are exploring changes to
how'the food pantry operates and how long clients may be serviced. The food pantry will be making gradual
changes that will minimize any impact ori the food pantry's clients. The number of people seeking service from
the food pantry continues to grow.
Rebuilding Together-Ten Rebuilding Together projects were completed throughout the northwest suburbs.
Elk Grove Housing Fund-The Elk Grove Interfaith Council is looking into becoming a recognized 501 (3) c, not
for profit group. This would provide the group with some tax-free fundraising benefits.
Community Paint—A-Thon-The Community Paint-A-Thon is gearing up for their September 11th event. The
CSC asked the Board if they knew of any senior that could benefit from the program (people may apply until
July 1S). The CSC also encouraged people to volunteer for the event by scraping or painting homes. All the
paint is provided by the Valspar Paint & Coatings.

Anti-Smoking Campaign
Positive Youth Development Program (PYDP)- PYDP personnel will again be helping to man the the
informational table at the Smoke Free Elk Grove concert series this summer in July.
Department Director's Report
Director Retirement-The Director provided a memo to the Board announcing his retirement on January 15,
2011. The Chairman stated he was not sure how this would affect the Department. Changes could take place
in the structure of the position. If the Village decides to fill the position the Board would likely be involved to
find a replacement.
Ryan Bookler asked about the Director's part-time status after his retirement. Chairman Christie stated that
the Director can work up to 600 hours per year. The Chairman noted that the Director would provide more
information in the future.
Kristen Gonsur- Kristen Gonsur will be leaving her job early to begin her maternity leave early. She will begin
her FMLA time on June 18tH.
Weed & Grass Complaints- The Department has responded to over 150 grass and weed complaints this
spring. The grass and weed contractor has had to cut additional properties this year.
Electronic Food Inspections- The Director will be working with IT to bring the food inspection process into the
electronic age. The EHIs will be equipped with laptops and printers in the field to provide onsite food service
inspection reports. Data can then be recorded and stored digitally.
Summer Intern(s)- The spring intern has returned for the summer season. Brianna Officer will be able to
conduct higher ranked activities and inspections because of her previous stint with the Department. The
.Department's additional summer intern, Ashley Mcllwee will be graduating from ISU after completing her
requirements with the Department.
Idling Education Program- Chairman Christie attended the May 25th Village board meeting and noted he was
impressed by the professional quality of work that the students showed in creating the "No Idling " street
signs. The JPZ and Recycling Committees will have to meet to discuss how to implement the program. The
Director has contacted Clean Air Counts about possible funding for the program.
Blood Drive-The next Community Blood Drive will be held on Saturday August 7tH
Department Events &Activities-The Director provided a list of upcoming and ongoing Department events
and activities.
Motion to Cancel the July Meeting- A motion was made by Lois Colaprete and seconded by Mary Paliganoff to
cancel the July meeting. The motion was approved unanimously.

Jim Morrill motioned to adjourn the meeting. It was seconded by Georgia Landt. The meeting was adjourned
at 7:34 PM.
