HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE & POLICE COMMISSION - 08/17/2010 - FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSION c: Village Clerk MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON AUGUST 17,2010 Chairman Shapiro called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and noted for the record that the following members were present: Chairman Alan J. Shapiro DDS, Secretary E. Butch Ehrke, and Commissioner Michael P. Kontek. Guests present: Mayor Craig B. Johnson, Ray Rummel, George Knickerbocker and Commission Attorney John Kelly. It was moved by Commissioner Kontek and seconded by Commissioner Ehrke that the minutes of June 15, 2010 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro declared the motion carried. PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES 1. None CORRESPONDENCE I 1. Memo to Village Clerk advising that the July 20, 2010 regular meeting of the Board of Fire & Police Commissioners is cancelled. i 2. Letter from Police Officer Larry Nagel announcing his retirement effective July 23, 2010. 3. Letter from Local 2340 regarding vacancies in the position of Lieutenant and the expiration date of the promotional eligibility list. 4. Letter of complaint from Mr. Jeffrey Perlik relating to a incident involving a member of the police department and Mayor Johnson's response letter to Mr. Perlik, 5. Notice of Retirement - Firefighter William Hopkins effective July 5, 2010. 6. Notice of Retirement -Firefighter Randall Schlottman effective July 17, 2010. OLD BUSINESS r 1. None NEW BUSINESS I 1. Mayor Johnson, Village Manager Ray Rummel and Village Attorney George Knickerbocker stopped in to thank the Commission for their contributions. i 2. Meeting with Chief of Police to discuss staffing. Minutes of the Regular Meeting 17 August 2010 Page 1 of 2 I 3. Meeting with Commission Attorney to discuss lateral lists, preliminary lists and age requirements. ELIGIBILITY LIST/HIR.IlVG STATUS 1. Police Officer—five vacancies on hold at this time. Twenty-seven names remain on the current eligibility list scheduled to expire on February 1, 2011. 2. Firefighter—five vacancies on hold at this time. The eligibility list expired.on July 18, 2010. Testing process to be initiated. 3. Police Sergeant Eligibility List —Ten names appear on the eligibility list which will expire on February 4, 2012, 4. Fire Lieutenant List—Eleven names appear on the eligibility list which will expire on January 6, 2012. ADJOURNMENT It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded Commissioner Kontek that the meeting be adjourned.
