525 Crossen Avenue Storm Sewer Rehabilitation
The Committee reviewed information from the Director of Public Works related to 525 Crossen
Avenue Storm Sewer Rehabilitation. Discussion ensued regarding the type of pipe material that
would be used in the replacement of the existing 60'', 66" and two (2) 48" corrugated metal pipe
(CMP). The Director of Public Works reported that the type of pipe would need to be
determined in the field but either a PVC type liner pipe or a Reinforced Concrete Pipe would be
used. Construction is anticipated to begin in early spring of 2011 and financing is possible
through the Build America Bond fund. The consensus of the Committee was to proceed with the
project and to utilize monies from the Build America Bond fund.
Build America Bond Program
The committee considered the addition of $750,000 of street resurfacing improvements to the
existing $850,000 FYI MFT resurfacing program for a total program cost of $1;600,000.
Trustee Czarnik requested additional information about the inclusion of Arizona Pass, Colorado
Lane, Nevada Lane and Utah Street to the proposed program. The Director of Public Works
informed the Committee that these streets were being added to the program because the base
course along the curb line was failing. It was the consensus of the Committee to add the
additional streets identified in the October 18. 2010 memo from the Public Works Director to the
FYI I MFT resurfacing program and utilize the funds available in the Build America Bond fund
for the additional $750,000 of street resurfacing improvements.
The Village Manager inquired if letters should be sent to all affected residents to inform them of
the upcoming road work. The consensus of the Committee was not to send letters at this time
but instead provide the information in the Village's Spring Newsletter. Village Staff will still
provide affected residents construction notices weeks prior to the construction of any projects.
