HomeMy WebLinkAboutCAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS - 11/01/2010 - CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS Revised Capital Improvements Committee November 1, 2010 Chernick Conference Room 9:30 a.m. Present: Trustee Petri, Chair Trustee Czarnik, Member Trustee Feichter, Member Also Present: Village Manager Director of Public Works Acting Director of Engineering & Community Development Senior Engineer 525 Crossen Avenue Storm Sewer Rehabilitation The Committee reviewed information from the Director of Public Works related to 525 Crossen Avenue Storm Sewer Rehabilitation. Discussion ensued regarding the type of pipe material that would be used in the replacement of the existing 60'', 66" and two (2) 48" corrugated metal pipe (CMP). The Director of Public Works reported that the type of pipe would need to be determined in the field but either a PVC type liner pipe or a Reinforced Concrete Pipe would be used. Construction is anticipated to begin in early spring of 2011 and financing is possible through the Build America Bond fund. The consensus of the Committee was to proceed with the project and to utilize monies from the Build America Bond fund. Build America Bond Program The committee considered the addition of $750,000 of street resurfacing improvements to the existing $850,000 FYI MFT resurfacing program for a total program cost of $1;600,000. Trustee Czarnik requested additional information about the inclusion of Arizona Pass, Colorado Lane, Nevada Lane and Utah Street to the proposed program. The Director of Public Works informed the Committee that these streets were being added to the program because the base course along the curb line was failing. It was the consensus of the Committee to add the additional streets identified in the October 18. 2010 memo from the Public Works Director to the FYI I MFT resurfacing program and utilize the funds available in the Build America Bond fund for the additional $750,000 of street resurfacing improvements. The Village Manager inquired if letters should be sent to all affected residents to inform them of the upcoming road work. The consensus of the Committee was not to send letters at this time but instead provide the information in the Village's Spring Newsletter. Village Staff will still provide affected residents construction notices weeks prior to the construction of any projects. 2 Water and Sewer Fund The committee also discussed the proposed water main replacement projects at Greene Ieaf/Busse. GreenleaffPratt and Greenleaf Avenue from Busse Road to Elmhurst Road. The consensus of the Committee was to proceed with the water main projects utilizing the funds available in the Water and Sewer Fund The meeting adjourned at 10:05 a.m. C: Mayor, Board of Trustees, Village Manager; Deputy Village Manager, Director of Engineering & Community Development, Director of Public Works, Village Clerk
