HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE & POLICE COMMISSION - 10/19/2010 - APPROVAL OF INVOICES c: Village Clerk MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON OCTOBER 19,2010 Chairman Shapiro called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and noted for the record that the following members were present: Chairman Alan J. Shapiro DDS, Secretary E. Butch Ehrke, and Commissioner Michael P. Kontek. It was moved by Commissioner Kontek and seconded by Commissioner Ehrke that the minutes of September 21, 2010 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro declared the motion carried. PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES 1. Invoice#101210 dated October 12, 2010 in the amount of$375.00 from the Illinois Fire & Police Commissioner Association for 2011 membership fee. 2. Invoice 17576 dated 10/13/2010 in the amount of$298.00 from The Blue Line for internet advertising of our firefighter testing process. It was moved by Secretary Ehrke and seconded by Commissioner Kontek that the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Secretary declared the motion carried. CORRESPONDENCE 1. Ordinance No. 3246 from Village Board authorizing the Elk Grove Village Fire & Police Commission to increase the application processing fee for candidates to the fire and police departments. 2. Order of Suspension issued to Police Officer Randal Schumacher for violating Rules and Regulations of the Elk Grove Village Police Department, Section 26.1.1A, Rules of Conduct, Rule 49 (Failure to appear in court when required or scheduled). Suspension to be served September 28, 2010. OLD BUSINESS 1. Finalize remaining dates/timeline for the firefighter testing process. Minutes of the Regular Meeting 19 October 2010 Page 1 of 2 NEW BUSINESS 1. Meeting with Fire Chief to discuss department staffing needs and firefighter applicant requirements. 2. Discussed firefighter testing process, schedule, applicant requirements and preference points. Refer to Firefighter Hiring Packet and Fact Sheet 2010 for details. Written examination scheduled for Saturday,November 20, 2010. ELIGIBILITY LIST/HIRING STATUS 1. Police Officer—five vacancies on hold at this time. Twenty-seven names remain on the current eligibility list scheduled to expire on February 1, 2011. 2. Firefighter—five vacancies on hold at this time. The eligibility list expired on July 18, 2010; testing scheduled. 3. Police Sergeant Eligibility List—Ten names appear on the eligibility list which will expire on February 4, 2012. 4. Fire Lieutenant List—Eleven names appear on the eligibility list which will expire on January 6, 2012. ADJOURNMENT It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded Commissioner Kontek that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro declared the motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 6:50 p.m. Respectfully submitted, J E.
