MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING VILLAGE CLERK'S OFFICE
OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
HELD ON MARCH 29,2011
Chairman Shapiro called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Building,
901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and noted for the record that the following
members were present: Chairman Alan J. Shapiro DDS, Secretary E. Butch Ehrke, and
Commissioner Michael P. Kontek.
It was moved by Commissioner Kontek and seconded by Commissioner Ehrke that the
minutes of January 18, 2011 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense
with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman
Shapiro declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
1. Theodore Polygraph Service, Invoice 2726 dated 2/22/2011 in the amount of
$1,350.00 for polygraph evaluations for ten firefighter candidates.
2. Theodore Polygraph Service, Invoice 2729 dated 2/23/2011 in the amount of
$270.00 for polygraph evaluations for ten firefighter candidates.
3. Theodore Polygraph Service, Invoice 2743 dated 3/7/2011 in the amount of$405.00
for polygraph evaluations for three firefighter candidates.
It was moved by Secretary Ehrke and seconded by Commissioner Kontek that the Board
authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation
whereupon the Secretary declared the motion carried.
CORRESPONDENCE
1. Written Reprimand dated January 27, 2011 to Police Officer for violating Rules and
Regulations of the Elk Grove Village Police Department, Section 26.1.1A,Rules of
Conduct, Rule 09 (Inattention to Duty).
2. Notice of Suspension dated January 31, 2011 to Police Officer for violating Rules
and Regulations of the Elk Grove Village Police Department, Section 26.1.1A, Rules
of Conduct, Rule 49 (Failure to appear in court when required or scheduled). One
day suspension to be served on February 13, 2011.
3. Memo from Police Chief dated February 9, 2011 advising that Police Officer has
been placed on administrative assignment and relieved of all police powers and
responsibilities.

4. Notice of Suspension dated March 2, 2011 to Police Sergeant for violating Rules and
Regulations of the Elk Grove Village Police Department, Section 26.1.1A, Rules of
Conduct, Rule 49 (Failure to appear in court when required or scheduled). One day
suspension to be served on March 24, 2011.

ELIGIBILITY LIST I HIRING STATUS
1. Police Officer—five vacancies on hold at this time. Twenty-seven names remain
on the current eligibility list scheduled to expire on August 1, 2011.
2. Firefighter—twelve vacancies. Processing candidates from eligibility list
published on January 7, 2011.
3. Police Sergeant Eligibility List—Ten names appear on the eligibility list which
will expire on February 4, 2012.
4. Fire Lieutenant List—Ten names appear on the eligibility list which will expire on
January 6, 2012.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded Commissioner Kontek that the meeting
be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro
declared the motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
