MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
HELD ON OCTOBER 25, 2011
Chairman Shapiro called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Building,
901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and noted for the record that the following
members were present: Chairman Alan J. Shapiro DDS, Secretary E. Butch Ehrke, and
Commissioner Michael P. Kontek.
It was moved by Commissioner Kontek and seconded by Commissioner Ehrke that the
minutes of September 20, 2011 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense
with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman
Shapiro declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
1. Illinois Fire&Police Commissioners Association, Invoice dated 10/1/2011 in the
amount of$375.00 for 2012 membership dues.
2. Daily Herald, Invoice T4276698 dated 9/24/2011 in the amount of$994.00 for
employment advertisement published on 9/18/2011.
It was moved by Secretary Ehrke and seconded by Commissioner Kontek that the Board
authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation
whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried.
CORRESPONDENCE
1. Letter of Resignation from Firefighter Patrick Jagger effective 10/17/2011.
2. Notice of Suspension to Police Officer dated 10/11/2011 for violating Rules and
Regulations of the Elk Grove Village Police Department, Section 26.1.1A, Rules of
Conduct, Rule 13 (Failure to adequately secure, use care, and maintain Department
property or equipment). One day suspension to be served on October 25, 2011.
3. Notice of Retirement from Officer Daniel Meyers effective November 11, 2011 after
thirty plus years of service.
4. Letter of Resignation from Firefighter Allison Chite effective October 2, 2011.
5. Notice of Suspension to Police Officer dated 9/26/2011 for violating Rules and
Regulations of the Elk Grove Village Police Department, Section 26.1.1A, Rules of
Conduct, Rule 49(Failure to appear in court when required or scheduled). Two day
suspension to be served October 28, 2011 and November 15, 2011. Officer will also
be required to attend two mandatory training courses.

OLD BUSINESS
1. None
NEW BUSINESS
1. Meeting with Stanard and Associates to discuss written examination results.
ELIGIBILITY LIST/HIRING STATUS
1. Police Officer-ten vacancies; authorized to replace three.
2. Firefighter-three vacancies. All names on current eligibility list have been
exhausted. Processing candidates through the multiple group interview phase to
create a second final eligibility list. Current register of applicants scheduled to
expire on January 7, 2013.
3. Police Sergeant Eligibility List-Ten names appear on the eligibility list which will
expire on February 4, 2012.
4. Fire Lieutenant List-Ten names appear on the eligibility list which will expire on
January 6, 2012. Next promotional process to commence on or after May 2I, 2012
per notification to IAFF Local 2340 dated May 21, 2011.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded Commissioner Kontek that the meeting
be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro
declared the motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
