Wireless Alarm & Monitoring System
The Committee was advised of JPZ minutes dated December 6, 2011 recommending approval of
a wireless alarm and monitoring system.
The Fire Department stated that the wireless alarm proposal would directly connect businesses
with Northwest Central Dispatch, eliminating the go between companies that are present in the
current landline alarm systems. The wireless alarm proposal should cut down on the number of
false alarm calls received since the system is able to detect the reason for the alarm system being
triggered (power outage, low battery, fire). The proposal should also be a cost savings for most
businesses since the cost of landline alarm systems is often greater than the cost of maintaining a
wireless alarm system. The new proposal will be voluntary for all current businesses, but would
be required for all new businesses.
The consensus of the Committee was to approve the wireless alarm and monitoring system and
to bring this item up for approval during the January 24 Board meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 7:05 p.m.
