MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
HELD ON APRIL 10,2012
Chairman Shapiro called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Building,
901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and noted for the record that the following
members were present: Chairman Alan J. Shapiro DDS, Secretary E. Butch Ehrke, and
Commissioner Michael P. Kontek. Guests present: None
It was moved by Commissioner Kontek and seconded by Commissioner Ehrke that the
minutes of March 20, 2012 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense
with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman
Shapiro declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
1. Office Depot, Invoice 603629656001 dated 3/29/2012 in the amount of$26.10 for
office supplies.
2. Theodore Polygraph Service, Invoice 3191 dated 3/23/2012 in the amount of
$270.00 for polygraph examinations for two police officer candidates.
It was moved by Secretary Ehrke and seconded by Commissioner Kontek that the Board
authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation
whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried.
CORRESPONDENCE
I. Meeting Notice advising that the regularly scheduled meeting of the Fire & Police
Commission to be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 was rescheduled to Tuesday,
April 10, 2012.
2. Appointment letters to four Firefighter Candidates (Ryan Bruess, Donald Hoffman,
Jr., Mario Gutierrez, Mark Pelletreau). Hire Date: 4/9/2012.
OLD BUSINESS
1. Discussed police sergeant testing process.
2. Discussed police officer hiring process.
3. Discussed firefighter hiring process.

ELIGIBILITY LIST/HHUNG STATUS
I. Police Officer—Forty three names remain on the final eligibility list published on
January 16, 2012. One hundred ninety two names remain on the preliminary
eligibility list scheduled to expire on January 16, 2014;
2. Firefighter—Eight names appear on the final eligibility list published on November
4, 2011; fifty-nine names remain on the preliminary eligibility list. List is scheduled
to expire on January 7, 2013.
3. Police Sergeant—Eligibility list has expired. New promotional process commenced
on February 16, 2012.
4. Fire Lieutenant—List expired. Next promotional process to commence on or after
May 21, 2012 per notification to IAFF Local 2340 dated May 21, 2011.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded Commissioner Kontek that the meeting
be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro
declared the motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 5:45 p.m.
