MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
HELD ON SEPTEMBER 20, 2012 .
Chairman Shapiro called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Building,
901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and noted for the record that the following
members were present: Chairman Alan J. Shapiro DDS, Secretary E. Butch Ehrke, and
Commissioner Michael P. Kontek. Guests Present: Chad Legel of Selection Works.
It was moved by Commissioner Kontek and seconded by Commissioner Ehrke that the
minutes of August 21, 2012 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense
with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman
Shapiro declared the motion carred.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
None
CORRESPONDENCE
1. Notice of Suspension dated August 20, 2012 to Police Officer for violating Rules
and Regulations of the Elk Grove Police Department, Sectin 26.1.1 A, Rules of
Conduct, Rule 49 (Failure to appear in court when required or scheduled). One day
suspension to be served on Tuesday, August 28, 2012.
2. Letter of Resignation from Firefighter Daniel Ritchie effective September 10, 2012.
3. Appointment Letters issued to three police officers scheduled to be hired on
September 24, 2012: Daniel S. Johnson,Juan Andrade and Matthew J. Stencel.
OLD BUSINESS
1. Discussed police officer hiring process.
2. Discussed firefighter hiring process.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Meeting with Chad Legel of Selection Works regarding testing products and
services.

ELIGIBILITY LIST /HIRING STATUS
1. Police Officer—Twenty one names remain on the final eligibility list published on
January 16, 2012. One hundred ninety two names remain on the preliminary
eligibility list scheduled to expire on January 16, 2014.
2. Firefighter— Seven names appear on the final eligibility list published on November
4, 2011; fifty-nine names remain on the preliminary eligibility list. List is scheduled
to expire on January 7, 2013.
3. Police Sergeant—Five names appear on the new eligibility list which will expire on
April 20, 2015.
4. Fire Lieutenant—Eligibility list has expired. Next promotional process to
commence shortly.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded Commissioner Kontek that the meeting
be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro
declared the motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
