HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE & POLICE COMMISSION - 10/16/2012 - FIRE & POLICE COMMISSION MINUTES c: Village Clerk MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON OCTOBER 16,2012 Chairman Shapiro called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and noted for the record that the following members were present: Chairman Alan J. Shapiro DDS, Secretary E. Butch Ehrke, and Commissioner Michael P. Kontek. Guests Present: None It was moved by Commissioner Kontek and seconded by Commissioner Ehrke that the minutes of September 20, 2012 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro declared the motion carried. PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES 1. Stanard& Associates, Invoice#SA000021151 dated 9/28/2012 in the amount of $1,580.00 for psychological evaluations for four police officer candidates. 2. Advocate Occupational Health, Invoice 460477 dated 10/2/2012 in the amount of $1,410.00 for medical evaluations for three police officer candidates. 3. Advocate Medical Group, Invoice 1002201115 dated 10/8/2012 in the amount of $843.75 for additional medical testing required for one police candidate. 4. Illinois Fire& Police Commissioners Association, Invoice dated 10/1/2012 in the amount of$375.00 for 2013 membership dues. It was moved by Secretary Ehrke and seconded by Commissioner Kontek that the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried. CORRESPONDENCE 1. Memo from Chief Mikel dated October 15, 2012 regarding progress reports and recommendations for three probationary firefighters hired on April 9, 2012. 2. Memo from Battalion Chief James A. Denna announcing his retirement effective November 29, 2012. 3. Letter from Illinois State Police regarding executed User Agreement with the ISP facilitating criminal background check inquiries. OLD BUSINESS 1. Discussed police officer hiring process. 2. Discussed firefighter hiring process. Minutes of the Regular Meeting October 16,2012 Page 1 of 2 NEW BUSINESS 1. Probationary reviews for three firefighters hired on April 9, 2012: Ryan Bruess, Mario Gutierrez,Donald Hoffman. ELIGIBILITY LIST/ffiRING STATUS 1. Police Officer—Twenty one names remain on the final eligibility list published on January 16,2012. One hundred ninety two names remain on the preliminary eligibility list scheduled to expire on January 16, 2014. 2. Firefighter— Seven names appear on the final eligibility list published on November 4, 2011; fifty-nine names remain on the preliminary eligibility list. List is scheduled to expire on January 7,2013. 3. Police Sergeant—Five names appear on the new eligibility list which will expire on April 20, 2015. 4. Fire Lieutenant—Eligibility list has expired. Next promotional process to commence shortly. ADJOURNMENT It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded Commissioner Kontek that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro declared the motion carred.
