HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE & POLICE COMMISSION - 12/11/2012 - FIRE & POLICE COMMISSION MINUTES c: Village Clerk MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON DECEMBER 11, 2012 Chairman Shapiro called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and noted for the record that the following members were present: Chairman Alan J. Shapiro DDS and Secretary E. Butch Ehrke. Guest Present: Fire Chief Richard Mikel. It was moved by Commissioner Kontek and seconded by Commissioner Ehrke that the minutes of November 20, 2012 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro declared the motion carried. PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES L Stanard& Associates Invoice SA21576 dated 11/30/2012 in the amount of $6,877.31 for Fire Lieutenant Promotional Process (invoice one of two). 2. Advocate Occupational Health Invoice 466775 dated 12/03/2012 in the amount of $355.00 for stress echocardiography of police officer candidate. CORRESPONDENCE 1. Notice of Retirement from Officer Tom Sturgulewski effective January 1, 2013 after thirty years of service. 2. Written Reprimand dated 11/27/2012 issued to Police Officer for violating Rules and Regulations of the Elk Grove Village Police Department, Section 26.1.IA, Rules of Conduct, Rule 27(Failure to obey Department orders concerning other employment, occupation or profession. 3. Written Reprimand dated 11/29/2012 issued to Police Officer for violating Rules and Regulations of the Elk Grove Village Police Department, Section 26.1.1 A, Rules of Conduct, Rule 2 (Any actions or conduct which impedes the Department's effort to achieve its goals or brings discredit upon the Department. 4. Memos from Police Command Staff and Sergeants regarding the performance of Probationary Officers Mazzuca and Wedekind. OLD BUSINESS 1. Discussed Police Officer hiring process. 2. Discussed Firefighter hiring process. 3. Discussed Fire Lieutenant Promotional Process Minutes of the Regular Meeting December 11,2012 Page 1 of 2 NEW BUSINESS 1. Six-month Probationary Reviews of Police Officers Anthony Mazzuca and Justin Wedekind. ELIGIBILITY LIST/HIRING STATUS 1. Police Officer—Twenty one names remain on the final eligibility list published on January 16, 2012. One hundred ninety two names remain on the preliminary eligibility list scheduled to expire on January 16, 2014. 2. Firefighter— Seven names appear on the final eligibility list published on November 4, 2011; fifty-nine names remain on the preliminary eligibility list. List is scheduled to expire on January 7, 2013. 3. Police Sergeant—Four names appear on the eligibility list which will expire on April 20, 2015. 4. Fire Lieutenant—Eligibility list has expired. Next promotional process to commence in January 2013. ADJOURNMENT It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded Chairman Shapiro that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro declared the motion carried.
