A) Consideration to authorize Mechanic Ron Ladehoff to attend
Hale Fire Pump Maintenance Training at the Montgomery
County Fire Training Academy, Conshoken, Pennsylvania, from
March 16 to March 19, at a cost not to exceed $1 ,007. 06.
(Our current fleet of fire apparatus uses Hale fire
pumps which are different in design and repair techniques.
than the older pumps. This course will allow the mechanics
to become proficient in diagnosing, trouble-shooting, and
repairing Hale pumps. )
B) Consideration to award a purchase contract to the lowest
responsive and responsible bidder, Overhead Door System,
Elk Grove Village, IL, to furnish and install ten (10)
electronic door devices for the Village 's four fire
stations, at total cost not to exceed $4, 600.
(The contractor supplied an alternatebid reducing the
price by $1 ,000 if the Village agreed to waive the
"subrogation" portion of our Hold Harmless agreement . The
subrogation clause would allow the insurance company to
seek reimbursement from the contractor after paying a claim
to the insured. Since Elk Grove Village is self-insured,
it is not in our best interest to waive the subrogation
clause.
(The bid is $150 over the budgeted amount . Sufficient
funds will be transferred to make the purchase.
(Reports from the Purchasing Agent and Fire Chief,
recommending approval, are attached. )

REGULAR AGENDA
7 . Consideration of a request (attached) from Charles Byrum,
representing Shell Oil Co. , One East Higgins Road, for a
variation to Chapter 8. 005 of the Municipal Code, to allow
one common water service line to serve both the Shell Oil
Station and Household Bank.
(The Municipal Code requires that each building have
its own water service line connected to the watermain. To
comply with this requirement, two parallel water service
lines would need to be installed on the Shell Oil site.
One service line would serve Household Bank while the other
would serve Shell .
(In lieu of installing parallel service lines, Shell
oil has requested permission to install a common 3-inch
service line to serve both buildings. Maintenance of the
service line would be the responsibility of Shell and
Household Bank. Valves would be installed to allow the
Village to shut off the water service for each individual
user.
