Zoning Variation—Docket# 13-2 926 Wisconsin Lane
Chairman Childress called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm and read a statement describing the
hearing notification procedure as well as the legal notice.
The petitioner, Carol Sheiner, was sworn in and asked to present her case.
Ms. Sheiner stated the reason for her variation request was to better enjoy her backyard and
provide adequate insect protection for her husband. Ms. Sheiner stated her husband is allergic to
bees and wasps and with the proximity of her house to Jensen Park, the need for an enclosed
room is essential based upon the presence of an excessive amount of insects. She also stated she
currently has a patio, for entertaining/leisure, in the area where the proposed screen room would
be constructed and the patio will be removed if a variation is granted.
Mr. Childress opened the meeting to questions from the board.
Ms. De Frenza asked if the petitioner was aware of any neighbors being concerned or opposed to
the request for the screen room addition.
Ms. Sheiner stated that she had not received any negative feedback on the variation request.
Ms.De Frenza asked if the screen room would match the existing siding of the residence.
Ms. Sheiner stated that the kneewall below the screens and the area on the gable end of the roof
would match the existing siding of the residence;however the majority of the room would be
comprised of either screens or windows.
Mr. Zinnel asked the petitioner how long she lived at the residence and if the screen room would
be supported on a deck or concrete foundation.
Ms. Sheiner stated that she had lived in the residence for six(6) years and the screen room would
be constructed on a deck with a pier foundation system.
A motion to grant a variation for the construction of an attached screen room which would
encroach approximately nine(9) feet into the required twenty(20) foot rear yard was made by
Mr. Zirmel and seconded by Ms. De Frenza. Upon voting(AYES--Childress,Bookler, and
Dohrer. Mr. Meister, neighbor to the petitioner, abstained from voting.) The motion to
grant the variance passed unanimously.Mr. Childress advised the petitioner,Ms. Sheiner, to
contact the Village Clerk and attend the subsequent Village Board Meeting. The meeting
adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
