Indoor Training Text Amendment
The Village Board directed the JPZ to meet to discuss the proposed Text Amendment to the
Zoning Code to allow Indoor Training Facilities in 1-1 and I-2 zoned districts. The proposed
language would allow these activities to take place as a Special Use. The Plan Commission
initially approved a Text Amendment that added language that would include "recreational
uses and amusements." Staff expressed concern over the intent of the "Text Amendment and
the ability, for haunted houses, paintball, or other uses to enter the Business Park. The
consensus of the JPZ was to approve the Text Amendment with the removal of
"recreational uses and amusements" for the Text Amendment to read as follows:
7E-3:A - Indoor teaching, training, and recreational facility for teaching basic and advanced
skills in a variety of recreational activities including, but not limited to, baseball, basketball,
softball, football, soccer, gymnastics, martial arts and similar athletic disciplines with
permitted ancillary uses such as competitions, exhibitions and similar events that include
spectator participation.
The meeting adjourned at 4:40 p.m.

Manager, Assistant to the Village Manager, Director of Community Development,
