HomeMy WebLinkAboutJPZ - 01/28/2014 - JPZ COMMITTEE MEETING,Indoor Training Facilities ELK GROVE VILLAGE JPZ COMMITTEE MEETING January 28, 2014 4:30 p.m. JPZ Members Present: Sam Lissner,VillagcTrustee, Chairman Jeff Franke,Village"Trustee Chris Prochno, Village Trustee Staff: Joe Carey,Assistant Village Manager Mary Jo Pye, Director, CD Steve Trudan, Deputy Director CD Indoor Training Text Amendment The Village Board directed the JPZ to meet to discuss the proposed Text Amendment to the Zoning Code to allow Indoor Training Facilities in 1-1 and I-2 zoned districts. The proposed language would allow these activities to take place as a Special Use. The Plan Commission initially approved a Text Amendment that added language that would include "recreational uses and amusements." Staff expressed concern over the intent of the "Text Amendment and the ability, for haunted houses, paintball, or other uses to enter the Business Park. The consensus of the JPZ was to approve the Text Amendment with the removal of "recreational uses and amusements" for the Text Amendment to read as follows: 7E-3:A - Indoor teaching, training, and recreational facility for teaching basic and advanced skills in a variety of recreational activities including, but not limited to, baseball, basketball, softball, football, soccer, gymnastics, martial arts and similar athletic disciplines with permitted ancillary uses such as competitions, exhibitions and similar events that include spectator participation. The meeting adjourned at 4:40 p.m. C: Mayor and Board of Trustees, Village Clerk, Village Manager, Deputy Village Manager, Assistant to the Village Manager, Director of Community Development, Village Attorney, Police Chief.
