Chairman Petri called the meeting to order.
MFT STREET MAINTENANCE PROGRAM —2014
The Committee reviewed the proposed street maintenance program which includes the
resurfacing of 4.34 miles of streets and the rehabilitation of curb, sidewalk and handicap curb
ramps. The 2014 MFT program shown in the attached exhibits has an estimated construction
cost of$1,203,400. To date the Village has received four MFT supplemental payments of
approximately $600,000 from the State. One additional payment in the amount of$150,000
is anticipated in 2014. The MFT fund balance as of April 30, 2013 is estimated to be
$1,340,116.
The resurfacing program exhibit reviewed at the meeting identified streets which have been
resurfaced since 2009 as well as those which have not been resurfaced since 2000. It is
anticipated that a program level of$1,200,000 will be needed for the next few years. In
addition to the local street resurfacing several arterial routes under Village jurisdiction
including Nerge Road and Oakton Street will likely require resurfacing over the next few
years. The feasibility of crack sealing pavementjoints on the arterial routes will be
investigated for future consideration.
The Committee recommended the implementation of the proposed program. The Street
Maintenance Program is targeted for a contract letting in late March 2014.
BIESTERFIELD ROAD SIGNAL, AND LIGHTING UPGRADE
Contract documents are currently being bid for the proposed traffic signal and lighting
improvements to the Biesterfield Road corridor. The project consists of painting street light
and traffic signal, upgrading signals to LED lenses, replacement of pedestrian push buttons,
and installation of pedestrian signals at the Rohlwing road crossing. The improvements will
also include LED street name signs at Arlington Heights Road, Commercial Drive,
Wellington Avenue, Leicester Road, and Beisner Road.
