HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMMUNITY SERVICES - 03/16/1995 - COMMUNITY SERVICES MINUTES ® ELK GROVE VILLAGE COMMUNITY SERVICE BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING MINUTES Thursday, March 16, 1995 Community Service Conference Room Elk Grove Municipal Building Board Members Present: Board Members Absent Anne Feichter Nancy Czarnik Ken Krzywicki Laura Kuhn Jim Foss Mary Paliganoff Ruth Guest Mary Cortes Alva Kreutzer Staff Present: Dick Penley Barbara Rettberg Sandy Costanza Bonnie Sokolowski Peg Vallillo The meeting was called to order at 8:06 p.m. by Mary Paliganoff, President. As there was not a quorum present, no official business could be conducted. Coordinator's Report Sandy noted that the amount of the donations collected at the choir festival held recently at Elk Grove High School was $2032.00. Sandy has been asked to be the representative from Elk Grove Village on the Resource Development Sub-Committee. This is through the PIC (Private Industry Council) and the Northwest Municipal Conference. This is the first time Elk Grove Village has had a representative on this committee. The Easter collection and distribution will be one day only, Wednesday, April 12. The next Coordination of Services meeting will be May 23. Committee Reports Intergenerational - none Substance Abuse Prevention - none Senior Citizen Sub-Committee - none Parade - given by Anne Feichter The letters, application, and rules are being mailed on Friday, March 17. The list is still being compiled, so additional packets will be sent on an ongoing basis. A copy is enclosed. Make a Difference Day - given by Sandy Costanza There will be no official Make a Difference Day Celebration for Elk Grove Village. Organizations may plan their own activities to commemorate that day. ® Volunteer Recognition -given by Sandy Costanza Only four names were submitted as nominations. More information is needed on the nominees. Laura Kuhn and Mary Paliganoff will call to obtain more information before deciding on the award recipient. A meeting will be held on Monday, March 20, at 9:15 a.m. to make the final selection. 40th Anniversary - given by Anne Feichter and Mary Paliganoff A contest is being held to select a theme. Elk Grove Village employees and Board members were asked to submit ideas for a theme. Copies of entries have been sent out. A decision is forthcoming in April. Another contest is being planned to design a logo. Junior high school age to adults will be offered the opportunity to submit a design. The committee also is planning a dance in February of 1996 as a fund-raising event. New Business: A discussion was held about how to best handle the election for the Community Service Board officers. A letter will be sent out to each Board member asking for nominations for the 3 offices. Each person nominated will then be called by Sandy Costanza to determine whether or not they will accept the nomination for the particular office. The election will be held at the April Board meeting. Old Business: A poll taken at the February Board meeting and then of the members who were not present at that meeting revealed that the majority of those voting preferred a 7:00 p.m. meeting time, rather that 8:00 p.m. The new meeting time will begin with the May Board meeting.
