Sandy told the committee that the Historical Society is lending
Community Service a canopy for the parade. Peg will pick up and
deliver the canopy, which will be used for a first aid tent, at
Salt Creek School . Sandy also told the committee she has tapped
into a resource for financial assistance: the Roncoli
Foundation. This however, is not an emergency resource.
Community Service has had a client apply, for the first time, to
this foundation. A copy of the Coordinator' s report was included
in our packets .
Intergenerational : Given by Sandy Costanza
Sandy met with Jim Arey at Elk Grove High School (Dick Penley' s
replacement) to discuss areas the students can get involved in.
He wants to incorporate more community volunteer opportunities
outside of what the Public Service Practicum students currently
do.

C .R.U. S .H. will be hosting another Active Parenting of Teens at
Grove Junior High this fall . Alva told Sandy she will hold
places for any clients Sandy wants to attend. Wayne asked if
clients from Kenneth W. Young Center could also be referred?
Alva said yes . She would not turn away any parents .

Parade: Given by Anne Feichter
90 units are in place for the August 6th event . We have a good
variety of units . The committee is actively seeking sponsorship
from companies in Elk Grove Village. A press release will go out
very soon. Letters to volunteers concerning their assignments
will be sent out . Sandy still needs volunteers . Awards will be
given at the end.
40th Anniversary Parade : Given by Nancy Czarnik
The next meeting will take place August 14th. February 9th is
the Dinner/Dance. At the August Community Service meeting there
will be a parade presentation. A suggestion to sell
commemorative license plates from the Secretary of State could be
done at a reasonable cost of $16 .00.
Intergovernmental Youth Council :
No report.
Make A Difference Day: Given by Alva Kreutzer
A copy of the proposed informational flyer was given to the
• board. The concensus of the Community Service Board was to
proceed with the Make A Difference Day awareness campaign as
presented. The Committee will now move forward and contact
service groups in the Village to promote Make A Difference Day.
The national sponsors have been contacted concerning their
promotional flyers . No word to date as to when these will be
ready.
New Business :
Bonnie asked about what Elk Grove Village has in place for senior
citizens and residents on days of 100 degrees or more. Sandy
indicated that Community Service would provide lodging through
Salvation Army if necessary to any resident without air
conditioning, especially the elderly and those with medical
problems . This is similar to the services provided during the
freezing months .
Sheila Ray is on medical leave from the Hattendorf Center.
Adjournment :
Motion to adjourn by Ruth Guest and seconded by Ken Krzywicki .
Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7 : 50 p.m.
