Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order at 7 : 01 p.m. by Bonnie
Sokolowski , Vice President.
Mary Paliganoff made a correction to the minutes of the January
meeting. On page two under the "40th Anniversary" heading,
instead of a letter sent to former board members "asking" them to
attend it should read "inviting" them to attend. On page three
under the "New Business - Disaster Training" Mary Cortes
corrected the "short business meeting following the training" to
"a short business meeting before the training" . A motion to
accept the minutes as corrected was made by Dick Penley and
seconded by Ken Krzywicki . Motion carried.
Dick Penley moved that guest speakers be permitted to speak to
the board members before the regular business is conducted so
that they don' t have to sit through the whole meeting. The
members of the board concurred. Mary Hale, Site Director of the
Christus Victor Church site of PADS was invited to offer the
board information concerning the PADS operation. She explained
the purpose of the Coalition, the individual PADS sites
operations , the need for volunteers and answered questions from
the board members . The board thanked her.

completed, of the four, one is very strongly recommended, one, a
possibility. The personnel committee plan to meet next week to
review the resumes . They hope to make their selection and
conduct the interviews through March. A hopeful target date is
May 1996 .
Dick Penley suggested that the board should postpone the
Strategic Planning Session and the Disaster Training until a new
coordinator has been chosen and is on the job. The Board members
agreed to his proposal after Mary Cortes moved and Ken Krzywicki
seconded her motion.
Budget : Given by Ken Krzywicki
An increase is needed in the budget for 1996-97 because a
computer and software are sorely needed. Any questions about the
budget should be directed to members of the budget committee.
Nancy Czarnik strongly recommended that Community Service Board
members be present at the Village Board Budget meeting to support
the Community Service budget.
PIC Scholarship: Given by Bonnie Sokolowski
Communicating by telephone, the committee agreed to extend the
deadline for scholarship requests until March because of the lack
of requests . Fourteen ( 14 ) applications were mailed. To date,
only one reply has been received.
Intergenerational : Given by Dick Penley
The peer jury program of District 214 is progressing. A booklet
has been prepared to help groups put together a jury and inform
them how to serve the youths .
40th Anniversary: Given by Nancy Czarnik
The kick-off party was a great success . 824 people attended. A
special feeling of community was shared by everyone present.
$13,500 was raised which will be used to fund the other planned
40th Anniversary activities : A 50 ' s party, a children' s birthday
party, the parade. A teen party is being planned with the youth
governmental council . Banners announcing "Elk Grove Village -
Peony Village" have been ordered and will be placed along the
"corridor" at Biesterfield Road as soon as they are received.
The next meeting of the 40th Anniversary Committee will be held
on March 11th. At the party 60 license plates were sold. In the
last 2 days , 12 more have been sold for a total of 72 plates
sold.
Substance Abuse: Given by Mary Cortes for Alva Kreutzer
Fighting Back now has a curfew brochure and the Task Force is
studying smoking ordinances for the different villages to decide
how Fighting Back can support them. Alva received a special
award for the District 214 Outstanding Community Partner.

suggested that we appoint a committee in January of each year to

candidates ahead of time if someone was running against them.
That did not occur last year. She also suggested that candidates
