HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMMUNITY SERVICES - 06/20/1996 - COMMUNITY SERVICES MINUTES • ELK GROVE VILLAGE COMMUNITY SERVICE BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING MINUTES Thursday, June 20, 1996 Conference Room A - Lower Level Municipal Building Board Members Present: Board Members Absent: Anne Feichter Mary Cortes Jim Foss Nancy Czarnik Ruth Guest Mary Paliganoff Alva Kreutzer Barbara Rettberg Ken Krzywicki Bonnie Sokolowski Laura Kuhn Dick Penley Staff Present: Peg Vallillo Beth Madden Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 7 : 02 p.m. by Anne Feichter. A motion to approve the May minutes was made by Dick Penley. Seconded by Alva Kreutzer. Corrections were made on page 2 , paragraph 4 the phrase should read . . . "sold to private citizens . " The remainder of the 100 plates will be used on ® village vehicles . On the same page another correction should read "The Anniversary parade as of this date has 70 units including 8 bands and 8 additional musical performances . " Coordinator' s Report: Given by Beth Madden Report attached in board packet . Committee Reports : Substance Abuse - Given by Alva. CRUSH will dissolve soon. 40th Anniversary - Anne gave for Nancy Czarnik. Can anyone volunteer for parade assignments? A sign-up sheet was passed around. The parade will honor long-time residents . Flatbeds are greatly needed for the parade. The parade will be comprised of approximately 100 units . Donations are still coming in for the parade. Channel 6 will televise it live. The Sock Hop will be on Friday from 7 - 10 p.m. at Rotaryfest. The Children' s Birthday Party will be on Saturday between 1 - 4 p.m. Intergenerational - No report . New Business : Peer Jury - Given by Dick Penley. The Village has printed brochures for the program. They are currently interviewing prospective jurors from Conant, Elk Grove High School, Mead Junior High and Grove Junior High. Eighth graders through CSB Minutes Page two Seniors in high school are eligible. The Orientation for these jurors is set for July 10th. Training will be on July 24th. The First hearing is on August 14th. Beginning July lst, Mary Cortes and Dick Penley will be going out to businesses to solicit placements for offenders . There will also be an academic component of the offender's sentence. They may be required to write an essay. Alva will bring a guest to the August meeting. A representative from the Elk Grove Junior Womens Club will presenting a check to Community Service for needy families . Old Business : The Disaster Training date will be set for either the August or September board meeting. The disaster plan is currently in the process of being updated. Announcements : The next regular meeting of the Community Service Board will be Thursday, August 15th at 7 : 00 p.m. Adjournment : Motion to adjourn made by Laura Kuhn and seconded by Jim Foss .
