MEETING MINUTES
Thursday, May 15, 1997

Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Anne Feichter, Acting President. There were
two corrections to the previous meeting's minutes. Jim Foss was not present and Mary
Paliganoff was present at the April 17, 1997 meeting. A motion to approve the corrected
® minutes was made by Alva Kreutzer and seconded by Peg Vallillo. Approval was passed
unanimously.
Volunteer Recognition Award:
Mrs. Ellen Cook was presented with the Volunteer Recognition Award, as she had been unable to
attend the Village Dinner with the other recipients of the award to receive her plaque. Mrs.
Cook has lived in the Village for 35 years and has been active in volunteering for Alexian
Brothers Medical Center, the Kenneth Young Center, PADS, and Prince of Peace Church.
Coordinator's Report: Given by Beth Madden
Report was included in packet. Beth Madden reported that the Elk Grove Women's Club had a
luncheon to benefit the Elk Grove Housing Fund. Approximately $4,000 was raised to assist
needy Elk Grove Village families.
Intern's Report: Given by Gerri Literski
Report was included in packet. Gerri Literski reported that YES is beginning to receive more
requests she continues to gain applications from youths.

No reports.
New Business:
Anne Feichter and Beth Madden described to the Board the committees which need to be
established. A sheet describing the committees was included in the packet. Board Members
volunteered for the following committees:

Elk Grove Community Action Award: Anne Feichter, Mary Hale, Mary Paliganoff, Mary Cortes,
Ed Ruszkowski, and Ruth Guest
Needs Assessment Committee: Mary Cortes, Salvatore Pace, Mary Hale, Peg Vallillo, and Dick
Scholten
Nomination Committee: Paul Klevinsky and Jim Foss
Volunteer Committee: Anne Feichter, Jim Foss, Mary Hale, Mary Paliganoff, and Ed
Ruszkowski
Old Business:
Anne Feichter read a thank you note form Mrs. Marie Nolan, recipient of the Volunteer
Recognition Award, written to the Board.
Board Members Reports:
Board members were asked to report on any community activities they are involved with.
Anne Feichter: The Parade Committee has approximately 60 units to date to participate in the
June 29, 1997 event. The committee will be seeking volunteers to assist with the parade.
Nancy Czarnik: The parade Grand Marshall will be Mary McCarthy and the parade will have a
50's-60's theme. Nancy Czarnik reports the committee will be seeking special youth to be in the
parade. Nancy has attended the Elk Grove High School Appreciation Breakfast and the Private
Industry Dinner.
Mary Hale: Mary has been active with the PADS program, serving,both on the PADS Board and
as a volunteer. The PADS program is closed for the season and Mary will continue to be active
in the program.
Paul Klevinskv: Paul related he is happy to be on the Board and hopes to work towards assisting
Senior Citizens.
Mary Cortes: Mary has been involved with the Elk Grove Village Police Department's Peer Jury
Program. The program continues to be successful in assisting young offenders. She is also
active on the Fighting Back: Communities Against Substance Abuse Board.
Peg Vallillo: Volunteering for many projects, Peg has recently assisted with the Senior
Celebration Day at Randhurst Mall and continues to be active on the Senior Advisory Council for
the Kenneth Young Center.
Ed Ruszkowski: Ed is active in the Lyons Club and his company, National Real Estate, has been
successful in collecting large amounts of toys for the Marine's Toys for Tots program.
Alva Kreutzer: Serving as the President of the Fighting Back: Communities Against Substance
Abuse Board, Alva attended the District 214 Communtiy Education Award Breakfast. She
continues to serve on the School Board for District 59 and assisted with the Senior Celebration
Day.
Jim Foss: Jim is active as an employee for Alexian Brothers Medical Center, running their toy
drive and volunteering for many activities.
Salvatore Pace: Sal is looking forward to assisting those in need through the Board. He has
been active in community politics for many years.
Announcements:
The next meeting of the Community Service Board will be held on Thursday, June 19, 1997 at
7:00 p.m.

After a motion to adjourn by Alva Kreutzer and second by Jim Foss, the meeting was adjourned
at 8:03 p.m.
