HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMMUNITY SERVICES - 08/20/1998 - COMMUNITY SERVICES MINUTES • ELK GROVE VILLAGE COMMUNITY SERVICE BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING MINUTES Thursday, August 20, 1998 Conference Room A- Lower Level Municipal Building Board Members Present: Board Members Absent: Anne Feichter Mary Cortes Mary Hale Nancy Czarnik Sal Pace Jim Foss Mary Paliganoff Ruth Guest Ed Ruszkowski Paul Klevinsky Dick Scholten Alva Kreutzer Staff Present: Beth Madden Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Anne Feichter, Acting Chairperson. Action Items: There being no corrections to the minutes of the July meeting, the minutes were accepted after a move to do so was made by Sal Pace, seconded by Ed Ruszkowski, and approved by the Board members. Agency Presentation: No agency presentation. Chairperson's Report: No chairperson's report. Coordinator's Report: Given by Beth Madden Report included in Board packets. Committee Reports: Elk Grove Community Spirit Award Committee: Given by Mary Hale Awards have been selected through September. With the addition of Terry Alessi as a member, the committee is now at full strength. The committee has had no meetings during the summer. A copy of the list of all the recipients of the Community Spirit Award was passed to the Board members present. Volunteer Committee: Given by Anne Feichter Because the agencies to be highlighted each month have been chosen through the end of the year, the committee has had no recent meetings. Old Business: Community Paint-A-Thon: Given by Beth Madden Volunteers are needed for the Paint-A-Thon to be held on September 26, 1998 with a rain date of October 3rd. A house at 575 W. Elk Grove Blvd., has been chosen as the one to be painted. Handyman Directory: Given by Beth Madden A copy of the rough draft of the directory was passed to Board members present. Following a discussion, it was agreed that this should be presented to the Village Trustees Committee of the Whole meeting before any further action should be taken by the Community Service Board. Make A Difference Day: Given by Beth Madden A copy of a compiled wish list was passed to Board members present. Appeals for help will be mailed to service organizations and will be printed in the Village Newsletter. Community Issues: None ® Community Service Board Member Reports: Anne Feichter reported on her participation in the Relay for Life. Peg Vallillo reported on her participation at Kohl's for raising money for the Kenneth Young Center. Announcements: The next meeting of the Community Service Board will be Thursday, September 17, 1998 at 7:00 p.m. Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 8:09 p.m. after a move to do so was made by Mary Paliganoff, seconded by Ed Ruszkowski and approved by the Board.
